So one of my dogs seems to have bit by something on her tail outside. Can't tell if it was a cut or a bite, but I'm assuming bite. She has been licking it and it has turned pretty red. Any recommendations of what to put on it to keep her from licking/help with the healing? We try and prevent her from licking as much as possible but when she is alone for 6 hours its sort of hard to stop her.

An Elizabethan collar works for the licking at least.

If it's bad enough then definitely a cone. Don't bandage it up much - we had that problem with our dog. We put a loose wrap on his tail, and since he couldn't lick or bite at the wound he ended up biting all around the bandage and making more wounds.
