Alright T-Dub, I’ve exhausted all the resources I know of, so now I’m turning to you for some help.
I’m trying to find a place to live on Hatteras Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I’m looking for at least 2 bedrooms for either April-October or year round. Hoping for something around $1,000 / month. Preferably in the tri-villages; Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo; or Avon, although I will consider Frisco and Buxton as well.
I’ve tried Craigslist, the local papers, Colony Realty long term rentals, and now I’m currently down here beating the bushes.
If you’ve got any ideas or suggestions I’m all ears. So please put your elite internet skills to work and help me find a place to live. Any help is much appreciated. Have great day. 3/27/2012 11:28:11 AM

Go to the local building/planning/zoning office. Either the building inspectors and/or code enforcement officials should know the local builders, which will many times have homes they'd be willing to rent. 3/27/2012 5:24:23 PM

I would tell you to live in that house in Rodanthe that they filmed Nights in Rodanthe in but I think they moved it somewhere, or it got lost in the sea. Can't remember which. 3/27/2012 6:32:04 PM

^^The movie house got moved farther down the shore after the one next door to it fell into the sea.
Methinks you're going to have trouble finding much of anything on the island for $1000/month in peak season. Vacation rentals run considerably more than that per week, so I'd think that finding a place not rented by the week in the first place might be a challenge. 3/28/2012 10:34:02 AM
