I saw someone post about this on FB but I don't know who he is... and to be honest, I still don't.

badass banjoist and north carolinian, originated teh three finger pick style, played with bill monroe which was basically the origin of bluegrass

you have the internet you can look this stuff up if you really wanna know

if I had to guess knowing your taste in music this may be the only song of his you know

honestly, I did do this. I saw it on MK's status, which mentioned his relation to NC (about 15 minutes before you made this thread), and I looked him up. Still was unfamiliar and still didn't really care

but sorry for all his fans. Sucks to lose someone who entertained you/made you happy with their craft

[Edited on March 28, 2012 at 8:47 PM. Reason : a lot of people said the same thing to me when I was sad about Patrice Oneal]

There is very few things I am thankful that I learned to enjoy while
living in extreme southeastern Kentucky for 2 years: Makers Mark Bourbon and authentic bluegrass music.
Earl was NC born and raised and a hell of a great muscian
RIP

If I took the time to listen to some of his music, I'm sure I'd recognize some of it- My dad was/is big into bluegrass, especially banjo (which he played in his college years)
