Had to go to the podiatrist today after crippling pain in my arch.

Turns out I have a sever case of tendinitis.

So the Dr gave me a cortisone shot. The first one I've ever gotten.

Didn't mention any side effects, and since I am friends with the Dr's son and kinda know him, I assumed he would mention some to me if there were any noticeable ones, so I didn't ask.

Well, I'm kind of a night own anyway, so I usually go to bed around 3am or so. Well at 7am after tossing in my bed for the better part of 3 hours, I figure something is afoot.

So I type in "cortisone shot insomnia" and sure enough, fucking pages of results from medical sites, and sites of people talking about it. So it's obviously an issue.

I love to sleep, I do it as much as I can, and as often as I can.

My main question is how long did it last if you had it? I've seen some people talking about a day or 2, and one guy saying 2 WEEKS later he is still having some issues.

Am I going to live?

steroids of any kind can cause folks to be really jittery and sometimes compulsively motivated.

insomnia can coincide with the jitters and general irritability.

as the steroids wear off in a few days you will feel better.

If it is really bad maybe you can call the doc and get a script for a mild anti anxiety med.

For the most part you just have to roll with it, it will get better.

It got a little better last night, but still wasn't able to fall asleep for hours.

Hopefully tonight will be better.

I took prednisone orally for an allergic reaction and needed no sleep for a few days and didn't feel tired at all.

I'm ok with it now.

I mean I kinda know what to expect and can sorta prepare for it.

I just can't believe the fucking Dr. wouldn't even mention insomnia as a possible side effect when its painfully obvious that its a pretty damn common one.

They never mentioned that to me when I had a couple in my forearm, and I never had a problem with it.

I had one in my shoulder joint, doctor didn't tell me about ANY side effects, needless to say I was freaking out when I was doubled over in pain after the numbing agent wore off.

I've had a cortisone shot in my shoulder before. Wasn't informed of any side effects and didn't have any side effects.
