How do you guys put your military experience on your resume? Just one block? Different blocks for every rank, assignment, or job title etc?

Also, do you bother putting your current clearance on your resume even if you're not applying to a job with one?

Try those links. A buddy of mine who is active duty reservist gave me those before I decided to stay in. they supposedly help put military service into civilian resumé speak.

I divided my service into three parts based on general job description, showing a progression of increasing responsibility. Neither my rank nor specific duty stations are on my resume.

The online resume submissions some companies use force you to lump it all together.

I've been wondering for awhile, does the military offer any sort of career services? Like someone who will help you write your resume and the like? They ran a story on NPR a couple months ago about how post-military folks have trouble finding jobs because they don't know how to frame their experience on their resumes and I was thinking it would seem logical for the military to offer career services like a university does.

yeah they do. ACAP, the Army Career and Alumni Program (ACAP), provides Soldiers and their eligible Family members transition and job assistance services at most Army installations. ACAP services include pre-separation counseling and employment assistance.
