does anyone know if ncsu registration and records will disclose information such as if a person went to school there or not? i know someone who is always claiming to have gone to ncsu, but i'm unsure of he did or not with the way he carries himself. i don't need to see his grades, i just need to know if he ever attended, or if he ever graduated. i would just like to verify.

I've had to get fishy looking transcripts verified at various universities and usually the person and registration and records will say, "Yes they went here and yes that scan is a valid transcript." So I would try calling them and simply saying, "I need to verify Jon Smith graduated from NCSU in a degree in Underwater Basket Weaving for employment purposes." Worst they can say is that information is classified.

i think the point was to pretend that it's for employment...

yea, i got that. i was just thinking that if i say it's for employment, they may say that i need to have the 'possible employee' to confirm the information release.

If all else fails, why not just ask him a couple of questions about life at State? What dorm he stayed in as a freshman, who some of his professors were, if he ever had to camp out for tickets... You could go about this the non-creepster way and actually just strike up a conversation.

Trip him up by coming up with incorrect shit like, "remember when we elected King Arthur as our president??" (instead of TPC of course)

They may but I doubt it. Consider the average person that works in reg and records

Just be like "Man I remember back when I had a meal plan and board bucks. I could get a chicken quesadilla and a soft taco at Taco Bell in the Atrium with one swipe of the card! They raised prices after my freshman year though, it sucked"

See, the trick here is that Taco Bell is at Talley, not the Atrium!

as an update, it was just a simple phone call over to r&r, all anonymous. the guy i talked to was really cool about the whole situation. long story short, the guy was indeed an alumni of ncsu. i'm still in a little shock about the whole situation and can't believe it...but, its the truth. i was just curious about this guy because he doesn't talk or act like he has any post-hs education. he annoys me, and when he claimed to have went to the same institution as myself, i was embarrassed. i guess that's what i meant when i said "the way he carries himself".

^ you ever seen dnl post??

There were tons of idiots at nc state that I always wondered how they got in there. Then I would look at the average SAT/GPAs and realize they weren't that great and that for it to be an "average", there had to be plenty of scores below that average.

There are some dummies on campus...fo sho.

doesn't all the public school have a quota system for each county? Needless to say, it's easier to get accepted in certain counties over others.

^ there's an in-state quota but not really a per county quota.

I thought there was a county quota as well...and it was related to population. Even so...there are only so many educated kids from Columbus County...

We had some retards get into UNC as well.

Say for example you had some county where none of the applicants met State's minimum requirements. They're not going to let some dudes in just to meet some quota. There's some caveats that go into it but we all know that the minimum at all public schools is pretty low. I would not be surprised if some years you have small counties where nobody gets admitted into State. I know they publish those stats annually.

i'm not a fan of quotas and i know they serve a purpose, BUT, he still had to pass 4 years worth of a college education. the quota will not help him pass his classes. i just can't believe that he passed.

Just because he's an alumnus doesn't mean he got a degree

There are some seriously easy degrees, or maybe the dude is brilliant in one niche (agriculture! communications! nuclear engineering!) and a complete idiot/jackass in all other aspects of life.

Just cause he's got a degree don't make him smart, and just cause someone's smart don't mean they got a degree.

Hmmm....you will appreciate the overall quality of NC State when you go to a smaller, third tier university (NCCU)
and have to deal with people sometimes outside of your program, as well as the administrative and technical quirks
inherent to a smaller school.

Not quite sure how I owned myself jcg, it was just a question. I just didn't want him going around claiming something he wasn't, especially something I was part of. I'm still wondering what I would have done if r&r had of said he didn't go to ncsu...probably nothing, just something for me and the wife to chuckle at.
