Yes

and it all stems to the Bible says gays shouldn't marry (which is illegal right now)

Actually, the bible says that gay people should be executed. Unfortunately, in our culturally backwards society, executing gay people is illegal. The next best thing is keeping them from getting married.

I think the craziest argument I've seen for the amendment so far was in an argument going on on a friend's Facebook post about the amendment. Some chick he knows argued that if we allowed the gays to get married it would cause our court system to become overburdened with divorce cases when the gays start getting divorces and judges don't need to waste their time on such things.

^^^^ I am aware of that, but what i am saying is that i have never heard anyone support specifically this amendment or argue in favor for it. Do they have pro signs? I only made this thread because over the last week i'd say 7 out of 10 houses on my street got those little anti amendment posters.

^^Lets not go down this road. The 'other things the bible bans' argument is so played out

^hahaha wat

I've seen a few, but nowhere near the number of "against" signs. I suspect most of the "pro" amendment peeps are hesitant to advertise their bigotry to the general public.

i'd still bet this will pass though, but it's not as big a certainty now that there will be a gov dem primary on that date too.

you don't hear about anyone being for it because if someone actually spoke up, they'd be torn apart by the people who are against it and get branded a multitude of derogatory names.

Whatever your feelings toward marriage are, a straight marriage shouldn't be the only domestic legal union recognized in the state. That has further & more costly impacts than just homosexual marriage.

I'm hoping that now Romney is more or less then Republican nominee that'll cause a lot of people to say screw it and not go to the polls.

the amendment also removes rights/etc from non married couples, regardless of their orientation.

Romney supporters should know that marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman and another woman and another woman.

I honestly can't understand the big deal here. It doesn't affect me at all, that I know of, so why wouldn't I be for it. It's not just a gay thing, it helps straight cohabs too. Ok, I'm going to be honest I don't really know much about it. I'm not one of these touchy feely liberals but I think it's basic that people should be free to marry and live together and have certain rights about their relationship.

I'm already married too I'm still going to for for it (voting for it gives people rights that they didn't have before, right? It's not taking away people's rights.)

I generally don't vote about stuff I'm not 100% sure about but this time it seemed like a no-brainer. Please to explain.

that was a joke

it does take away a lot of rights from folks (other than the gays)

voting for = yes, please add an amendment to the NC constitution defining marriage as 1 man + 1 woman
voting against = no, don't do that

Wat.

Voting for it takes away rights from several groups of people. Voting against it doesn't change anything at all since there's already a law on the books saying gays can't get married.

There should never be an amendment to any constitution that takes rights and discriminates. AND THERE SHOULD NEVER BE A PUBLIC VOTE ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS.

Aha, that's what I was looking for. Thank you sir. I'm going to vote no just because I'm an atheist and the bible beaters are going to be voting yes. Man I hate that group so much.

I see the against signs all over my neighborhood but I've never seen a pro one anywhere. I'm sure it will pass with a heavy majority though, unfortunately.

That's because they conveniently named Amendment 1 after Amendment 1 and nobody it educated enough to make a title that differentiates the two.

I mean typos are typos, it's not like I don't know the difference between it and is. My fingers type the wrong button for some unknown reason. I wish there was a way to count how many characters I've typed in my lifetime, but my fingers still get it wrong.

Anyway. Out of my control, I try my best, I'm only human.
