Depends on where you are and what time of day, but overall there is nothing you wouldn't hear in another city of a similar size, enviornment and wealth

we don't have any historical architecture or new technology that makes any unique sound loud enough to be noticed over the typical buzz of eveyday city life. Maybe if the bell tower was some 17th century monastery

we've got our electricity

the mains hum is a 60 Hz tone
almost exactly halfway between A? (58.24 Hz) and B (61.68 Hz) two octaves below Middle C

and like any city there's the drone of traffic in most places

I dont go to outdoor concerts in durham, I'm not poor

therefore train horns blaring during an outdoor concert is specific to raleigh in my experience

so what you want to know is what soundscape does raleigh have? NOT what sounds are specific to raleigh? because there aren't any

or just in general.

sometimes the sound of the bells on rickshaws makes me think of raleigh, but of course you find that sound elsewhere too

the sound of me yelling "GODDAMNIT YOU PEOPLE ARE FUCKING RETARDS" every time it rains, some jackass flips his/her car, and causes a shitstorm of traffic on the roads.

this.

and right now just a lot of birds chirping and shit. lots of bees on the flowers too. since Raleigh is pretty much nestled in a forest there's lots of animals running around. the belltower goes off hourly. that's all I got.
