sup sluts.

i searched tww, and found nothing particularly helpful... has anyone had any good or bad experiences buying a mattress? where did you go, etc.

I look online and theres tons of pissed consumer sites, but seeing 200 complaints about a company, i have no idea how representative that is... nobody rates shit five stars or wahtever. so, i'm wondering if the entire world hates their bed, or what.

basically i found a stearns and foster i like, but it cost a little higher than i really wanted to spend. im not big on pillow tops but plush tops are in line with what i'm looking for. Though, i'm not opposed to buying a cushioned mattress pad and putting it on top of a mattress i find to be the right support level. i mean, thats basically all a pillow top/plush top is...

anyone have experience with original mattress factory? i found some pretty negative reviews about them sending lower quality than the person bought.

Last summer, someone threw out a mattress and box spring on the curb in front of my place. They sat there for a while -- I think Greensboro trash dudes only pick up big shit once a month. After a week or two of heat and rain and humidity and dirt and bugs, some guy knocks on my door and asks if they're mine. I said, nah sorry, I know it looks trashy, not sure who left it out there for so long. Guy was like, no, I was just looking for a new mattress, wanted to know if they were clean. Only think I could think was "I bet drunknloaded has done this before."

someone i knew one time was like "i know how to get a free boxspring", so i was like sweet i'm into saving money, how do you do it? she's like "okay so there's a trailer behind some store where they put the old boxsprings that people trade in. you take the bag that your mattress came in and zip it up and take two cans of raid...", which is about where i stopped listening.

but to answer your question, i bought a foam mattress from ikea and honestly i kind of love it. it was way cheaper than a traditional mattress/boxspring/frame, and it great to sleep on (if you like firm mattresses). also i bought it rolled up and took it home in my car, which i guess goes w/o saying w/ ikea, but it was still nice.

my wife and i are very pleased with the mattress/boxspring we got at original mattress factory. the sales lady was helpful and wasn't pushy. it's as comfortable as the expensive shit, but less than half the price.

I used to work as a contract engineer for Sealy, Inc. in Trinity, NC. If you're interested in a plush stearns and foster, then simmons makes a similar feeling mattress but they have more of a tendency to sag after a few years. Usually the beauty rests are around 400-500 dollars.

I got the Seally iComfort Insight memory foam mattress. It is super comfortable. It is firmer than their more expensive brands which is fine with me. I like a firm mattress. I paid around $2000 for a king size bed set from Rooms to Go.

my dad bought a knock-off tempurpedic but it wasn't bottom of the barrel, he still paid a good bit for it. he said after a few months he and his wife had like trenches that they slept in and said it was horrible. he bought a sleep number and raves about it years later.

we just finished mattress shopping not to long ago. We liked the iComforts memory foam, however we ended up buying a couple different mattresses from Costco. At first we were kinda worried about buying a mattress we hadn't tried yet, but with Costco's awesome return policy we went with it.

The first one we bought was http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11621568&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|93|1924|67411&N=4018919&Mo=29&pos=3&No=23&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=67411&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC11879-Cat1924&topnav=
but it ended up being really really firm. If you're looking for a really firm memory foam bed, that one is for you.

we returned it no prob. The mattress company sent a moving company to come pick it up as there is no way i could get a california king mattress back to the store

The next one we bought (and are sticking with) is this one. It is still a firm memory foam mattress, just not quite as firm as the first one.

^^The Tempurpedic brand has a 20 year warranty (and is the best of all the memory foam beds). If there is a dip of 3/4 or an inch or more, they will swap it out under your warranty.

being a california king doesn't necessarily make it more comfortable. and unless you're tall, you don't need a california king as it's nothing but a longer king bed, and probably more expensive.

I bought my Sealy from The Mattress Firm 13 years ago. It's the "Posture Premier Summerlake" and a double pillowtop. I think it cost ~$1000 new. To me, it's the most comfortable bed I've ever been on. Everyone that has ever laid on my bed has said to me that my bed is awesome if that's any kind of endorsement. With regular rotating and flipping my mattress doesn't sag at all, and for the majority of its use it has just had one large man sleeping on the right side of it every night, lol.

Seriously though, when I bought the bed, the guy who sold it to me was one of the most knowledgeable salespersons I ever met. I still remember him telling me that Sealy/Stearns & Foster are the best beds, and that all the other major bed-making companies picked names that begin with S to confuse people into buying their inferior beds. He also told me that the average person only has 4 beds in their lifetime; the bed when they are a kid, the bed when they move out of the house, the bed when they first get married, and the bed they have when they die. Really when you think of it that way, there's no reason not to spend a little more and get yourself a nice bed.

Buying a Sealy from The Mattress Firm was one of the best consumer purchases I've ever made.

I don't know how people can stand those foam mattresses. I had one briefly and the thing made me sweat like I was sleeping in the middle of a jungle.

ha, i'm pretty sure i bought the $300 one. i was going to buy the $200, but my dad told me that was stupid.

i guess i should also mention that i really like firm mattresses. my previous mattress was a really nice serta that i hated that cost way too much money. i was honestly pretty glad to move and unload that thing; i longed for my dorm days of basically a box spring w/ a layer of foam on top.

This happened to me the few times I've slept on various friends' tempurpedic mattresses. I would always wake up in the middle of the night covered in sweat and would just end up sleeping on the floor. So I was very worried when my wife wanted to look at memory foam mattresses. But some of these new ones have better foam that is good at pulling the heat away from your body. Some, like the icomfort and the one we ended up getting from costco that I posted earlier, have a layer of gel-infused foam that helps keep you from getting hot.

Now I don't know if thats just marketing mumbo jumbo or if these mattresses are just more firm than tempurpedics so you don't sink down as far, or what, but I haven't woken up sweaty on our new mattress yet (had it about a month so far). And I'm fairly heavy at 250lbs.

I was laying on the icomfort at the store for about an hour (let the wife go do other shopping while I did my due diligence on the mattress ) and didn't get hot in that one either. I was there so long I had several other customers come in and lay next to me in the bed while I was there. Even had one lady ask if it was ok if she slept with me before she got on

I got mine from the mattress place in triangle town (outside the mall in a separate building) but had them price match usmattress.com. got a $2700 mattress for $1100 delivered.

I need an extremely firm mattress so I got the 980 coil count, visco foam (memory foam top), extra firm. I was only more impressed by the tempurpedic, but wasn't going to drop 6k on a mattress and power base... at the time... I still might

My parents like their Original Mattress Factory bed and I've got one from there that I like as well.

They're nice mattresses and they're a lot cheaper than a comparable brand name. On top of that, you can flip them. Flipping is a pain, but the "no-flip" mattresses that companies build now are just an excuse not to put a pillow-top on both sides.

This isn't necessarily true at all. If you have trouble tossing and turning at night, the pressure mapping from some of these beds doesn't even come close to Sealy's memory foam beds.

Latex does help this but it's not very significant. You'll also have to pay more to get the support that you lose from the material.

My Sealy embody has a polartec insulated cover that wicks away moisture and i've never had a problem waking up sweating. This helps the overall bed not heat up as much overnight as well, the less body heat that can reach the visco (memory foam) the less will be trapped in the mattress. I'd argue that this is one if not the best memory foam mattress but it comes at a price. http://www.mattressfirm.com/Sealy-Embody-Thoughtful-Pillow-Top-P221.aspx

Stearns and Foster is also made by Sealy, and is essentially a Sealy bed with higher end material. For what you're looking for, I would look for the Posturepedic models from 2011 that focused mostly on spinal alignment in a plush top.

Another thing to look for on Stearns/Sealy beds is handle damage around the border, most of the damage and wear on any mattress comes from shipping, not from you sleeping on it, and a lot of people involved in the shipping process will toss these mattresses around by the handle, which was just designed to adjust the bed on the foundation.

I got one of these from Mattress Firm after a groupon + certified pre-owned (someone uses it and returns it within 90 days and they factory bake it) for $700.

http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/stearns-foster-mattress-sets-estate-april-luxury-plush-euro-pillowtop?ID=609947&CategoryID=25946#fn=BED_SIZE%3DQueen%26MATTRESS_COMFORT%3DPlush%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D9%26ruleId%3D52%26slotId%3D

Best mattress I've ever slept on. Can't beat a $3000 mattress for $700.
