Quote :
"Cop Kicks Pregnant Woman In Stomach, Dept. Says He Was Within Policy

As things escalated Wheeler pulled out his taser and used it on Dozier's brother. She says that's when she started crying and asking the officer why he used a taser on her brother.

Wheeler must not have been in a talking mood because after he used the taser on him, he then kicked Dozier in the stomach.

Dozier was almost nine months pregnant and wound up giving birth via an emergency C-section two weeks after the kick left a bruise. The now 4-month old baby was born and is healthy.

"What kind of a human being kicks a pregnant woman?" says Dozier's attorney Mark Bullman. "I mean, forget whether or not it is a police officer that is supposedly protecting people."

This isn't the first time Wheeler has acted questionably. In 2011, he was accused of manhandling a 53-year old woman, twisting her arm behind her back and shoving her face down into a patrol car. She says she was only trying to check on her grandchildren who had just got in a car wreck with their mother. This past January, Wheeler was accused of showing up to the wrong address when called, and then shooting that family's dog."

My personal preference would be to stomp on his balls until they become inoperable. He doesn't seem like the type that needs to breed anytime soon.

I'd probably kill someone if they shot my dog.

It wouldn't be good.

The sad part is that his department is protecting him rather than firing him before he causes a lawsuit for the department. Oops too late.

The government can be trusted. Only the government should be allowed to carry guns. The people shouldn't be able to defend themselves from out of control cops.

This is the kind of thing you would expect when the punishment for abuse of authority is often "paid vacation."

Yeah it sounds like this guy needed to be fired given his prior incidents (shooting and killing a dog despite being in a person's yard and chained up, roughly restraining a mom who was checking on her daughter an accident victim, and kicking a pregnant woman. Had the department properly investigated any of the previous incidents then perhaps recommended therapy and desk duty pending a psych evaluation.

Unfortunately the PD in this case seems incapable or unwilling to take a critical look at some of his behavior and these prior incidents because nothing came of her initial complaint. It's not like these prior incidents are isolated and spread over years of decorated service - something that might indicate a good officer who wasn't handling the stress of the job appropriately. The article says he's currently under criminal investigation which is good, but given how internal affairs has dealt with him previously I would hope that this was being investigated outside the immediate department.

Not saying that someone shouldn't be able to defend themselves from an out of control law enforcement agent - be it police, sherrif, walrus, whatever. Perhaps, for most people even if properly and competently armed, attempting to do so with a firearm might more accurately be called suicide by cop than effective self defense. Of course I suppose my assumption that an out of control police officer may have more training and even real experience drawing and using their firearm on a live person than your average innocent and wronged citizen would even if they were decently trained.

Had this woman drawn a weapon to defend herself - presuming one accepted she would be entirely justified in doing so - I would put the odds on her being dead rather than less injured. It is all well and good to be free to exercise your right to defend yourself and to possess a firearm, but I think it is also important to understand that in this sort of situation seeking legal recourse after the fact pushing for the punishment or removal of this bad actor might be the best solution even if one were armed and prepared to defend oneself.

Yeh, if a citizen were to fight back with any means, you'd be looking at death or jail time in most cases. That's the way our laws are written and how society has been brainwashed (don't fight the police because they're always right and just protecting us!). And you'd be surprised by how many citizens have much more training/shooting time than cops. And yes, seeking legal recourse would be better, as using lethal force should be a last ditch effort; however, the establishment has done a good job of fending off such legal recourse and The Code really limits this as well. I mean, I don't know how one would write legislation saying it's ok to fight a cop that's out of control; I don't know if it's possible, or should even be done. But something has to be done about cops just beating the shit out of people for no reason. People are wrongfully killed by cops and nothing severe happens to the cop. That has got to change.

While I'm not defending what happened, I'm sure this woman was just minding her own business.
