Bow ties are pointless fashion attire. where did they get their start? who thought "maybe i should tie this around my neck and put a bow on it, for no practical reason". Same with a regular tie. I hate wearing them, although i have to at least a few times a month.

Bow ties are all the rage up here at work, but for a somewhat valid reason. A lot of the admin and faculty types wear them, but its an issue of hygiene rather than style. They teach classes with body parts, cadavers, etc. and don't want to lean over a corpse and have their tie falling in blood. So a lot of the med school docs and admin guys rock bow ties.
