this place has locations in Texas....I went to a cookout that a coworker had yesterday and she had a plastic souvenir cup from there (she's from TX)...I knew the name was familiar and sure enough there was one in Knightdale when I checked GMaps

I figured I had found a good hole in the wall, no homo, since there is never any mention of this place in the threads

Can't believe it's a chain

Too expensive for chain BBQ, but good, nonetheless.

I've never been to one, but the people I know that went said it was OK, but that it tore their guts up

Brisket on a good day is a solid A. On a bad day, it's a C-. (1 Grade adjustment scale for being so far away from Texas).

Ribs aren't as hit or miss, usually solid. Sausage is good.

Pulled pork is nothing to right home about, BUT it's never dry. So that makes it edible at least.

Sides really stand out. Especially the dill potato salad. I'll sometimes pick that up just to take it home and eat with homemade bbq.

Overall I give Dickey's a B. It's pretty impressive, especially for a chain.

it's very comparable to a "Q Shack" and has a lot of different types of sauces iirc

Ive got a few big yellow cups from when I used to live in Dallas. It was my favorite of the chain BBQ places. The meats are solid, and I loved their bbq beans and mac and cheese.

How would you compare Dickeys to The Pit? I've heard The Pit is decent, but a bit overpriced. Overrated or not?

^^ just went to the pit last weekend for the second time ever and was underwhelmed. i think Dickeys is good, but I only go there with my wife if we have a BOGO cause it is a bit pricey otherwise

I've always seen BHS as a knowledgeable BBQ source....until now.

I wouldn't feed Dickey's to my beagles.

The Pit sucks.

The quality spot is Cooper's, across the street from Dickey's.

Most of the brisket in Texas is shitty.

Though City Market in Luling is absolutely awesome.

Respectfully disagree.

The brisket I've had in Texas/Oklahoma has always been pretty awesome, and place-for-place a better product than you find elsewhere. Sorta like Memphis is for Ribs.

the Pit is fucking amazing. it's an upscale bbq restaurant downtown, what do you expect on the prices? I'd say that for the portions you get - baby back ribs half rack + at least 1/3 -1/2 lb of bbq (pulled or chopped), and two sides with hushpuppies for $20 is a pretty good deal.

you cant even pick up the ribs because the meat just falls off. they cook whole hogs with lots of smoke over night, every night, and the sauce is delicious. people who don't like it are either trolling or have seriously misguided taste in bbq. it may not be traditional but it is damn good.

The BBQ isn't bad at the Pit, but you can get better five blocks down the street for half the price and you don't have a half hour's worth of yuppies in line ahead of you.

Also, fuck Greg Hatem.
