i didnt see a thread for this or even just a general horse racing thread so i apologize if its out of place. but i just heard on the Dan Patrick Show that I'll Have Another suffered an injury and will be out of the belmont stakes. even said he might not be able to race again. i might have actually watched the race this weekend to see a chance at history. 6/8/2012 11:33:46 AM |

So whats the idea...don't risk the many millions they're gonna earn off stud fees for a chance at the triple crown? From the story it sounds like he physically can race...

It's a conspiracy. He doesn't want to risk losing millions if this horse breaks a leg running at Belmont. This horse can already command huge stud fees. 6/8/2012 4:16:56 PM |

Shit. I liquidated my 401K and put it all on this horse. Looks like I'll Have Another 10 years to go before I can retire. 6/9/2012 1:48:33 PM |

That horse will make far more in stud fees than it ever would running. If his offspring prove they can run, he'll be worth even more. 6/10/2012 10:14:45 PM |

then you obviously didn't read the story. You don't fuck with tendon issues in horses. If he had raced, he would have been seriously injured further. not fair to the horse and since he wasn't at the top of his game, wouldn't have won anyway. this horse has had a history of leg issues, they did the right thing by him to scratch him and retire him.6/11/2012 11:04:40 AM |

...
Because the horse isn’t 100 percent, “we ain’t taking any chances,” he said. O’Neill said the horse looks fine. I’ll Have Another walked in front of the media at the press conference." |
