If I was in that situation I just wouldn't say a damn thing to anyone until I talked to my attorney

I'm not saying I'd be thinking about due process while I'm flinging lead his direction, I'm just curious as to legal precedent. I've just heard so many times that shooting someone in the back is a ticket to prison no matter what, but I would like to believe it's not so rigid as to preclude logic

There really is none in North Carolina.

In other news, after tomorrow, I won't be able to post in this thread for awhile since I will be relinquishing my law enforcement authority.

I will be a LEO, just not in the traditional sense of riding around in a patrol car. I start next week but not sure when they plan on swearing me in.

explain "sight and tone" as that sounds like a BS way to say, "I don't know who's speeding, I just pick randomly."

A RADAR is used to corroborate an officers opinion that a vehicle is speeding. First you must visual estimate the speed of the vehicle. Then turn on your unit and listen to the tone which does two things: 1) the tone sounds different as speed increases and you get to the point where you can recognize what tone is emitted at what MPH 2) it lets you know that the radar is locked on the target you are looking out. If there are bunch of cars in the group, the tone won't be constant and it will change rapidly because its bouncing of one car to the other.

Almost definitely, but I'm not a cop

What holster is that, I really like that. Mine is beside the seat, it take me too long to get out.

Have you ever punished someone for being a dick while being arrested by taking the long way back to the precinct, and farting A LOT with the windows rolled up?

to cops:

have you ever retrieved a car's EDR, or the data from it after an accident?
Is there a standard procedure for it?
Is there any risk that it won't retain the data if action isn't taken quickly?

^. Last time I read a report from one, they had to pay a third party engineering firm to interpret all the data.

So lets say somebody mistook their court date and didn't appear.. What would the correct course of action be and what could the penalties be?

why do police set up speed traps on the highway instead of in neighborhoods?

most accidents occur five minutes to and from home.

Moonshine, whats the statute on it and have you received any training in finding stills being in an urban environment rather than in the mountains?

There are LIDAR operator courses, but that is about all I know.

Not sure, but I know there are a few state/fed task forces that target moonshine operations.

How often are you corrected on a law by a citizen when you try to enforce something you've been misinformed about?
