WOO WOO!!!!!!!!!!

holy fuck, that was old before the first pitch, as was the piano cat, the astonished cat, AND THE FUCKING BISCUIT chant. don't get me started on Spaz. I appreciated the surprised rodent, though.

oh, and they lost in extra innings, when the opposing team hit a home run to the sound of the BISCUIT BISCUIT chant.

Got some people at work who go to that shit.

Glad I'm not friends with them.

So did Mariano Rivera and Don Mattingly. Rivera and Jeter played for them when they were the Greensboro Bats (worst name ever) and Mattingly played for them when they were the Hornets.

In fact, several big name Yankees made stops in Greensboro on their way up through the Minor League system.

Beautiful ballpark, much better than the DBAP (albeit smaller). They definitely have a bit too much going on other than the game though.

I loved going to World War Memorial when I was a little kid and watching the Hornets. it was quintessential minor league baseball. we used to show up early to scour the trees behind the 3rd base line and the creek on the 1st base line for foul balls.

War Memorial was a great stadium in its own way. I, too, had a lot of fun going to games there as a kid. But the new park is a big improvement.

I'm not so sure those complaining about the non-baseball things that go on during games there understand how minor-league baseball (especially Single-A) works

Was the area around War Memorial a shithole wasteland before the Grasshoppers left or did that trigger it?

Ive been to a couple games and I agree. The sound effects and all the noise coming over the speakers is little much. The stadium is amazing, easily top 3 in North Carolina though.

^^^ it's right across the street from NC A&T, that should answer your question

In fact, I think A&T plays their home baseball games there now, but I might be wrong

Yeah, that's a nice area, but then it gets shitty real quick.

War Memorial is still an awesome park. I hit a home run there in an All-Star game when I was 15 and I thought I was a stud. Now I look back and realize it's only 325 down the left field line.

Also, the park is featured in Bull Durham, and they casted extras from Greensboro.

I've always felt like Greensboro is like that, though. Other than, like, Irving Park, it's shitty neighborhoods right next to decent spots. There's not a lot of, uh, segregation. Aycock isn't exactly baller territory, but it's nice old houses with nice upper middle class folks. I've never felt unsafe here, but the real shit is always just around the corner.

It was a good idea, just poorly executed.

Grasshoppers isn't great, but it works...especially with the colors

My wife's HS "reunion" apparently consists of a group outing to a game (WTF FML).

Glad her whole class basically sucks and she's already said there's no way in hell she's making us suffer though that miserable shit.

Did go to a wedding in their ballpark though. Really nice.

^^ nope. You can drive out to Whitsett and check out my bees / garden

We got plenty going on in Guilford Co.

^Yeah, Warthogs was way better. But the guy that owns the Dash is like 30, so I guess he is open to new ideas. Fuck that dude

sorry, i think one of the appeals of MiLB is the goofy nicknames and ridiculous mascots that come with them. Dash is just kind of blah.

The Montgomery Biscuits on the other hand...
