My wife keeps telling me about "Aguila Con El Taco II"

Not the worst, but strange nonetheless.

This is somewhere between Raleigh and DC. Can't remember which exit. We were probably high from lack of sleep when we stopped for gas but my sister and I thought a Mexican restaurant named Carlos O'Kelly was hilarious at the time.

My nieghborhood (Dilworth) is/was full of them.

The sports bar downstairs is called Sidekicks.

A fish place down the street was called Rock 'N Lobster.

And then it went under and changed to a fancy restaurant called, and I shit you not, Plan B.

Not a restaurant, but Kum and Go is pretty bad for a gas station.

wasn't it Plan B before it was the Lobster?

i dunno why that tenant space can't stay in business long, they've probably had a half dozen different restaurants in there over the last decade

Sheetz sound pretty gross. And their advertisements about their food don't help.

sheetz is a gas station that also happens to sell food.

exxon has sandwiches in the coolers and hotdogs, but i don't consider them a restaurant.

Bobby, Dilworth is amazing, just has some funny restaurant names.

Tree, I think you are right. Plan B first then Rock-N-Lobster. Before all those it was the awesome but also very creatively named City Tavern.

Boardwalk Billy's didn't last long and now it's going to be a hotdog restaurant.

It the perfect space for a restaurant and none can survive.

have you seen the commercials? they make it look like it's a legitimate gourmet sandwich shop, not something out of the cooler. i don't know because i've never been to noe.

so a couple of years ago, someone was opening a restaurant in garner, but the name was secret, the only hint was that you couldn't google it and find anything of a similar name

GOOD NEWS: when they google it, customers assuredly get that restaurant

BAD NEWS: when they google it, customers see the reviews

I mean, I wouldn't call them gourmet, but they make them to order so it's definitely not the same as your usual gas station fare.

I'd always wondered about this

Quote :
"The chain was founded by Ruth Fertel, a single mother of two, in 1965, after she bought the existing Chris Steak House in New Orleans. In buying the restaurant, Fertel had to agree that the restaurant keep the "Chris" name for a specified period of time. After the original location sustained a kitchen fire, she relocated the restaurant about one-half mile (0.9 km) to the west on Broad Street and renamed the rebuilt establishment "Ruth's Chris." "

There's a jerk chicken place at the bottom of Richmond called Jamaica Me Crazy.

Toot-n-Tell is a pretty dumb name now that it's no longer a drive-in, but it's a damn good restaurant.

lol Carlos O'Kelly's! Yes!

wolfpackgrrr, you were in Fredericksburg or Stafford. Those are the only 2 between here and DC. I grew up about 10 minutes away from both of them.

My vote:

Just because if you have to call yourself "best food" to get people in the door, you're probably nothing to write home about.

Regarding the place in Garner...
Before it was Character's Quarters it was "Garner Draft House"
Before it was "Garner Draft House", it was a place called "High Beams"

I went in there once when it was High Beams. It was the kind of place that was so generic and mediocre, you wonder why the owner would bother opening a restaurant.
