The accused did precisely that.'' Mr McTaggart said it was the prosecution's case that Mr Siever's actions were unlawful. ''He (Mr Davis) was not armed with a thing. He may well have been shooting his mouth off.'' Mr Siever's lawyer Paul Yovich told the court the group of youths posed a threat to the accused's family. ''They seemed to be an angry mob throwing stones and bottles and threatening his partner and mother,'' Mr Yovich said. ''Someone in the group, not Mr Davis, threw that rock, but none of them owned up. Patricia Sievers was angry and expressed her anger. It was then that things escalated into mayhem. ''The group yelled abuse at 58-year-old Patricia Sievers,'' Mr Yovich said. He said some threw stones at her so she cried out for help. He said Mr Siever chose a meat cleaver and kitchen knife because he thought they would deter the crowd. ''Rowan Davis was not deterred. He approached Scott Sievers. One was carrying a cricket bat and menaced his mother and his partner.'' The lawyer said Mr Sievers had no intention of stabbing Mr Davis but he, Mr Davis, lunged forward and the knife went into his chest. Mr Yovich added that a neighbour would give evidence at the trial saying he had a baseball-sized stone thrown at him by the group before Mr Davis joined them. My MIL punched my brother in law when she was drunk and then was like "ARE YOU GOING TO FUCKING HIT ME?!???!?!?!?!?!?"

This story reminded me of that. For a second I was not sure how that situation was going to end, luckily he just look at her like she crazy.
