Was bullying that bad when we were in school. Some how I don't remember it being that bad...I mean we would make fun of our teachers and substitutes...but not to their face and not like that.

Also, those kids were making fun of her for being poor...but if there is one thing that I do remember...only the poor kids ride the school bus.

not necessarily anymore. there are some districts that are now requiring kids to be bussed or driven by their parents (at least up here) - they won't let them walk or ride their bikes.

so if both of your parents are working (which doesn't make you poor that's for sure) your ass is on the bus.

Lol...what did I say? I just remember when I was in school it was the kids that were from the lower income families that rode the buses. And based on my memories I made that comment. I found it weird that they would be making fun of her income, when in my mind they were from the lower income families too.
It's like kids at the fat camp calling another kid fat.

I mean maybe it wasn't like that at all the schools...I mean I never made fun of the kids that had to ride the bus, it didn't really matter to me that they had to, I was just happy that I didn't have to because I always hated riding on buses. Even for field trips or to go to soccer games.

I don't think there's any way for 4chan to ruin their lives anyway. Cause them annoyance for sure, but that's about it.

Seems like generally 4chan "ruins people's lives" by exposing misdeeds to bosses or spouses. These kids don't have (real) jobs, the school officials already know about it, and by the time they do get jobs nobody will remember or care about these kids anymore.

EDIT: Also my kid is gonna ride the bus no matter how much money I make. I'm sure as hell not gonna wait an hour in my car every afternoon to pick my kid up like I see so many people do these days.

I was under the impression 4chan was notorious for exposing people's real names, addresses, and private information. Causing at the very least for people to be ridiculed publicly, and made fun of en mass on the interwebs.

Perhaps not the biggest deal, sure. I think that we've seen that even adults aren't so great at dealing with public shamings. I personally think that is something that might cause a middle school student to be fucked up for life.....assuming they don't end it.

That works well against people from internet forums because of the believed anonymity and the audience of random people from across the nation or the world who wouldn't know who you are anyway. With these kids, everyone whose opinion they value already knew about this when it became a major news story.

If their lives are going to be ruined, it's happened already. If not, there isn't much 4chan can do.

Yea generally the bus monitor is supposed to keep the kids straight so the drivers can deal with, ya know, driving.

As to the poor kids riding, I know in the small town district I went to and later worked in, the middle school was the "cool school" to ride the bus. There were two elementary schools that fed to one middle school, so it became far less convenient to get to the middle school by driving or walking as it was right on the edge of town. After the change up a lot of kids that lived by the elementary schools and had walked previously now rode the bus, and a lot of others kids did because it was "cool" that they could get to school and back without needing mommy and daddy. By HS it was the poor kids who didn't have friends that drove or couldn't afford a car that rode the bus.
