Quality inspection in on Chatham St. in Cary is where I go. All they do are inspections...Two cars at a time, all day, so there is never much of a wait. Most of the time when you pull in you're next in line and they knock them out pretty quick. It's nice not to have to wait while they do oil changes, tires, brakes, etc. on other cars. They do have a brake shop next door, but it's a separate building and doesn't interfere with the inspections.

+1 for these guys. most of them know their stuff and you can BS with them while they do the inspection
occasionally you'll get the young guy and he'll fail you for a wiper blade or some other lame reason]6/28/2012 7:54:34 AM |

I go to this place on Peace Street, right by the Capital Blvd overpass. Hardly ever a wait and they're quick. 6/28/2012 8:15:20 AM |

yeah if your car is 100% legit go to quality...
If your car is legit with after market parts... don't go to quality.
A friend of mine with headers and high flow cats was failed there. No CEL but the visual they failed him on. 6/28/2012 9:23:02 AM |

how does a high flow cat fail visual inspection? i thought they're just making sure you dont have a test pipe or something 6/28/2012 10:41:38 AM |

umm... it's an inspection. it's the same price no matter where you go.
if it's brand new and there's nothing wrong with your car, then why not just go to the most convenient place? 6/28/2012 11:19:10 AM |

Yeah I'm also curious of this as well. There's no law saying your car has to be equipped with OEM spec cats.6/28/2012 11:59:07 AM |

^^ precisely
I think its because he had 2 cats instead of 6? 6/28/2012 11:59:08 AM |

I'm pretty sure there is no law requiring more than one catalytic convertor in a vehicle's exhaust system. So as long as there's no CEL shouldn't it be fine? 6/28/2012 2:08:47 PM |

probably including pre- and post-cats in that count. but those dont need to be checked for emissions anyway. 6/28/2012 2:53:54 PM |
