Some of my students told me this year they were able to get cheaper insurance through BCBS rather than the school. 7/3/2012 9:20:40 AM

It's funny how everything has insurance nowadays.
How can we live without insurance?!
If it's such a good deal and we pull more money out of insurance than we put in, then how do they make money or guarantee all their claims?
If they can make money and afford all of our claims, can't we all just save our own money to pay for our own "insurance payouts"? 7/3/2012 9:21:56 AM

I got a quote for 45 a month. Not a great policy but I've been sick 0 times in 3 years. 7/3/2012 9:23:03 AM

I don't think policies that cover 80% of costs for large bills should be called "insurance", but this is what the school mandates. People still look at it as a binary state, insured and not insured.
You can still get sick and die from lack of ability to get care, or ruin your financial welfare for the rest of your life as an insured person.
Yes I'm mad. It actually ticks me off. In an empathetic, sad way.

Or pay for insurance, then have them deny the medications you need so you have to pay out of pocket anyway. 7/3/2012 10:28:51 AM

my wife starts grad school again next month and i didn't even think to check non-school insurance rates
if she doesn't TA (because then it doesn't matter since they'll pay for it), i'll have to check it out 7/3/2012 10:29:57 AM

If you get denied, PM me and I may or may not have a friend that has ordered from a reliable Indian pharmacy.
