^^^^ Basically it's like this, the creator of the Powerpuff Girls, which was a pretty decent cartoon, made a new show to sell toys on the hasboro network. Even though this show isn't as good as the Powerpuff girls, a bunch of dudes who liked the powerpuff girls as kids started jacking off to it. And the disgust showered upon them by others on the internet caused them to double down on their love for this mediocre girls show and form an internet subculture, fueled by external hatred.

They are like an internet-exclusive version of Goths or Hipsters.
