My insurance lapsed, and as punishment, I can't get tags on my vehicle for 30 days

I need a car during these 30 days to get to work, school etc. I can't afford the traditional car rental places, which want around $800 for a month. However, if someone has an extra car that they would be willing to let me "rent," I could offer $100 per week. Let me know if anyone is interested.

whoever told you that is wrong as fuck. get insurance papers call company and get them to send FS1 paper to dmv. go to dmv and get your tags. $50 penalty i think. but dont hold me to that number.

The DMV told me that They said I have to wait 30 days from the day the plates were turned in.

request for appeal, go to the hearing, hopefully the magistrate will cancel all of it. My friend went through this, I had to drive him around all day. Either way its annoying, sorry man

Thanks. It looks like the only way to "win" the appeal is to prove that you didn't actually lapse in coverage, and...well...I did. Siiiiigh. This makes things very difficult.

i had this issue. you can request a NEW tag and pay all the extra for that, which is cheaper than renting a car. you may also consider buying a $1000 car, only to sell it in a month and get all or most of your money back

Insurance is tied to the car; not the driver. If the car is insured she is insured while driving it.

Talk to your insurance company and see if they can back-date your forms for you (and you pay the extra time of course).
