not a turn off per se, but definitely a reddish flag and an inconvenience

Eh, depends on where you live I guess. I know a ton of people in DC that don't have a car... both guys and girls. But between the subway, buses, and taxis, you don't really need one. In fact, depending on where you live in DC, having a car is actually more of an inconvenience.

I can see it in a big metro area like DC, but around here I'd just assume she has issues I don't want to deal with.

One of my friends in college taught his NYC girlfriend to drive and helped her get her license. She totaled his Explorer and almost killed him.

Don't get married to one. My Grandpa got remarried to a lady who has a car, but she doesn't like to drive, so she makes him drive her everywhere.

I think that's typical 'old lady'.

A girl who won't drive is useless to me. I love to drive and don't mind it the vast majority of the time, but you've got to have someone to share DD duties and drive you to the hospital every once in a while. I would haunt my wife so bad if I bled out and died because she wouldn't learn to drive a car.

But I guess I'm digressing a bit. There's a big difference between not having a car and not having a willingness to learn to drive.

Yeah, most other places I've lived in other than DC were driving cities.

Hell, I would even want a car in NYC, if I lived anywhere else other than Manhattan.

I disagree. Many parts of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx have dense subway coverage.

Also, street parking is a big pain in the ass - doesn't matter what borough you're in.

Chick from back home that went to NCSU did not have a car or learn to drive. She bummed rides home with me to see her boyfriend (who was still in HS). She graduated, married him, and as far as I know has a car and license now to get to work. But I thought it was a bit odd.

When I lived off Kaplan this girl next door had no car, she rode her bike everywhere, it was not due to money or being a student supposedly...it was that she was morally opposed to cars.

She was not attractive, and looked like the type that would do a poor job grooming herself.

I don't have any first hand experience with this, but I feel like this is a bit unfair. Just because someone doesn't like something that our society requires doesn't automatically make them crazy.

I do know of one lady that has no car and doesn't drive, and its because she is afraid to. She walks everywhere and takes the bus. I don't know the statistics but it seems like busses would be safer than cars. I imagine it is more like airplane travel in that severe accidents are more rare, but everyone dies when it does happen. Does this make her crazy? I don't know, I don't know her very well, but I've never seen her waving a knife around.

I don't think it is too bad if you are in college and live on/near campus. But otherwise it is pretty annoying. Leads to a lot of excuse about why they can't do something. I'd love to go ___ but I cant because car.

Telling a chick to come over and her having the ability to be there in a few minutes is very underrated imo.

This girl I dated in high school... her mother didn't have a car and wouldn't drive. But this was because she was in a horrible accident with an 18-wheeler before while she was driving, and after getting out of the hospital, she never had the courage to get behind the wheel again.

I currently don't have a car...but that's because the car I did have just died and it wasn't worth fixing so I sold it for parts and I am currently in the process of trying to save up for a car...combination of not very good credit and also not really wanting a car payment. I'm making it by without a car, the only times it really gets annoying is when I wanna go do something fun or go to Maryland.

My grandmother never drove or got her license.

My goal is to one day live in a place where I don't need a car, or just be a one car family. They're expensive.
