Last night, following a long late night workout (olympic lifts followed by tire flips, sparring, and heavy bag work), my training partners and I went to IHOP to eat. We realized as we pulled up that it was 2am, and that bar crowd was rolling it. It was an instant flashback to going to Waffle House to see Betty back in the day (not like IHOP, as there were no drag queens and club kids).

My favorite part of the night, was watching a very drunk group, try to pick a fight with the police officer on their way out. One little guy thought he would intimidate the officer by taking his shirt off to show off his gyno. The officer had a few lols at his expense, when he returned and joined us for coffee as we ate.

I, also, immediately felt OLD, as I was now on the outside looking in, rather than incoherently drunk trying to sober up with food.

Aren't you a police officer restricted?

You've got to step back sometimes and think, "Wow, I was on the other end x years ago!" sometimes.

Ten years ago, I sat with the drag queens and club kids, sipping my diet coke and eating a bowl of grits stinking of alcohol and cloves.

Wow. I'm old.

I wont compete then. It'll be like going down from the Olympics to the special Olympics. They will lie their ass off and I'll need to tone it down to make it seem like I am not lying.

12 - 8 years ago for me as well.

Although, sometimes, I was there to eat, so that I would have energy to stay up all night for an architecture project.

It's a good thing you told me what you did during your workout because honestly that's the only reason I clicked on this thread

Actually, that was why the police officer was sitting with us. He recognized me from the gym, and we were talking to him about his krav maga training, after discussing our own training.

If it's not too loud, your hearing may already have been irreparably damaged.

We don't offer it, nor have I done it. There is a reputable school nearby. I think it it's expensive, but would be an applicable skill set, though probably better suited to the law enforcement and military types it typically draws.

I'm not familiar with the Raleigh school.

I'm confused. Is this thread about working out, getting old, or Betty nostalgia?

When I was in Ocean City in June I had a group of college freshmen thinking that the way you fish for sharks is to through a chick in the water to make it look like food then you throw the hook right in front the shark to catch it.

It is fun to have fun at the expense of underage drunk kids.

Look I'm tired...I've been sitting on the beach all day long. Sometimes I'm going to make a mistake. Am I going to correct my mistake? No. I'm going to let others learn from my mistake.

Yes I say through instead of throw. Cause sometimes you just want to put a ugh instea of a w.
