to go back to school and study.

I just had a dream that I was offered a full ride to go to school in the Netherlands and play basketball. i was going to do a graduate program.

This whole thing started a few days after someone found out I was actually born in the Netherlands and it would be a better idea to trash my US passport and become a citizen of the Netherlands. After getting my passport, I was contacted about going to a small school to ride the bench in basketball on a full-ride. Graduate programs were limited. I was going to do it in a heartbeat even though I had to pick some random masters program.

No, another degree would not be a benefit to me, and quitting my job would be more detrimental to my career than getting another degree.

As long as I didn't have to go back to school full time. My family is my priority right now. We recently discussed the possibility of me going to work, but we both felt like the family couldn't afford to lose me to a full time job and I imagine a full-time school work load would also apply.

No, it's much more likely for an employer to pay for my grad degree. Plus, I do better with more on my plate (my non-working gpa was a 2.8, my working (60 hours a week) gpa is a 3.9).

In short, unless I get really stupid, and go to law school, FUCK NO.

I wouldn't mind taking some night classes in business management or finance to make me better on the construction side of things, but I would never want to leave where I am.

I am currently transitioning out of engineering and into construction management though, so I'm not using my degree nearly in the way I thought I would.

Depends on where. The line of work I'm in right now is probably not what I want to to do for the rest of my life, and there is a chance I might go back to school anyway when the fiancee finishes her master's program. But if it was not geographically close to where she is, and where I will be moving sometime this fall (Richmond, VA) I'd have to regretfully decline. I wouldn't disrupt her program already in progress and wouldn't want to be long-distance for two years at this point in our lives (I'll be 32 in a month).

How the hell do you work 60 hours a week and take classes? I've been working about 65/wk and feel like I don't have time to do much of anything else. Can't imagine adding classes in on top of that.

one semester I worked 55 hour weeks and went to grad school - but I only took 1 class and even then it sucked major balls.

I had a dream last night that I decided to sign up for college softball, while working full time and going to school full time. The team captain said she had too much on her plate to be captain and made me captain. The coach didn't actually coach and left practice to the team captain. I don't really know much about softball and was really stressed out.

This is the third dream I've had in a week about being stressed out about starting school.

I have hardly any social life, and I work on the weekends. It helps that both are 100 percent flex time, and at one I can pretty much never show up in the office if I wanted.

I have given myself only one day off a week for the last few years. I've synched my schedule up to a buddy's with similar commitments, and we generally take that day to go sailing, kayaking, rock climbing, etc etc etc.

It could also be the cause of a major break up which has aided in my want to fill my time. It's not like I have to spend time with the gf any more!

I was offered a full-ride PhD, only to find out later that many of the promises made to me were not honored. Ended up paying for summer tuition/fees while I did nothing but field work (to the tune of ~$1000/summer). Several thousand dollars worth of travel never reimbursed. Funding disappeared. Now trying to finish with a master's and GTFO.

Now if it had been the school of my choice, it would probably be a different story. I had never considered this school when considering potential grad schools and only chose to go along with it because everything was supposed to be provided and I figured if I didn't go with it, I would regret it for the rest of my life. I probably had a great shot at a much better school for my interests, but I blew it by going with my current school.
