Don't incriminate yourself

i advise you to take it apart, cut the receiver with a torch and scrap the whole thing.

and don't mention it to your cop "buddies"

Take it apart and just throw a piece of it out with the trash every few weeks?

Start with the barrel.

yeah... i was about to say...with a shot gun the barrel is just a metal tube for the most part.

Get a new one.

and don't incriminate yourself .

P.M. Restricted or something.

Could you weld on something to the end of the barrel like you can with ar-15s?

I don't really know shit about this but unless the receiver is known to have been a part of the class III weapon then just get the barrel off the rest of the gun and get a new one when you can.

is it still a class III if you cut the stock off it (in the manner of the ar-15 pistols)

[Edited on July 23, 2012 at 12:03 PM. Reason : btw i still think it was a class III weapon when it didn't work. ]

I, too, would replace the barrel.

lol yeah true.

restricted seems like the reasonable type though to understand this is a man trying to do the right thing. Not the kind to make him fuck his friend just to be a douche.

^^^doesn't matter. You have a class 3. Disassemble, destroy, erase your posts.

one more question...

can it be taken to a place that has a class III permit for re-sale or something?

and is there such thing as a 20gauge pistol? because i think it could fall under those guidelines if done correctly?

[Edited on July 23, 2012 at 12:09 PM. Reason : ok so two.]

I don't think a shop would take a firearm that you illegally posses.

^^ I think the NFA defines short barrel shotgun as a smoothbore firearm with a barrel less than 18"

the taurus judge is classified as a pistol because of the rifled barrel (except in CA )

so you could have a 20gauge pistol but you'd need atf approval and a bunch of BS to make it legal

If nothing else...
Remove barrel, throw barrel away, keep receiver in case you ever want to put a new barrel on it.

I don't see how you could get in trouble for owning a shotgun with no barrel.

thanks... so replace barrel is only option unless the receiver's serial # has been marked as a class III weapon somewhere along the way.

pretty sure a gun show would have some barrels, though I'm not sure if that will get you the best deal. try the classifieds gun thread; sometimes things like this come available. You can also try local shops or carolinashootersclub.com
