I'm curious about Indochino as well. Seems like a good idea.

I just spend 30 minutes browsing their site... looks interesting, although I know nothing about fashion.

I've got one of their suits. Fits very well. Thing about MTM is that you get one that fits you, make sure you dont gain or lose a lot of weight.

don't forget about the quality of the materials the suit is made out of, that's more important than the CMT (Cut, Make, Trim) that this company is doing. I guarantee you anything you buy online from Asia will pill (get those little fuzzy balls) within 2-3 uses.

Indochino only uses the finest high thread count Australian Merino and Mongolian Cashmere wools from Italy. Many of our fabrics are created in house to ensure the ideal color, quality and drape. Curated by our designers and fabric experts, take comfort in knowing every suit sold at Indochino will drape well and wear wonderfully over time for a first class quality inside and out."

does that sounds like good fabric? I have no idea but am considering getting a suit from these guys (I don't fit into any of my old ones anymore )

hahahaha living in China has taught me how bullshit international companies are about origins of materials and labor.

I guarantee you ALL fabrics and CMT are from China and Vietnam regardless of the label. I personally know a hot young factory owner that makes men's and women's suits for an Italian high fashion label. I have been to Songjiang with her to buy the fabric and linings.

op must have a pretty prestigious, important job to be needing a custom-tailored suit.

They openly say that themselves.

So would the suits of that high fashion Italian brand pill within 2-3 weeks? If not, how can you say that about this indochino company? What if they use the same fabrics that your hot little toy uses?

"Our custom suits are of the highest quality, created by the same school of highly skilled tailors, using the same superior fabrics and techniques, employed by well known high-end fashion houses."

"Most wools come from the same mills in China – it doesn’t really make a difference. For example, our Vincero line of suits use the same wool as that used by Ralph Lauren for its Purple Label menswear range. You can also evaluate fabric upon a range of factors including weight, composition (wool, linen, silk, cashmere, etc.) and thread count. What enables us to offer unique pricing is our model – we work directly with our production partners in Shanghai and ship direct to the customer."

I just spent an hour on their site and read about the founders... it is such a great yet simple idea that it makes you go, why didn't I think of that?! The founders were 20 somethings when they started... they must be multimillionaires now.

The site is great and easy to navigate. I customized a shirt, a pair of chinos, and a suit... very easy, and very unique.

This is amazing:

Quote :
"All Indochino products are tailored to your exact measurements and occasionally they may require a slight adjustment to achieve a perfect fit. If this is the case, Indochino offers an alteration credit of up to $75 to put towards local tailoring. On the rare occasion your suit cannot be altered, Indochino will remake it for you."

Very cool: http://www.indochino.com/tailors-kit

Quote :
"THE TAILORS KIT
THREAD COUNT MATTERS
Only $29
16 Fabric Swatches
2 Measuring Tapes
$29 Credit towards your next suit purchase"

And here you can see a macro view of the fabrics from each of their products, as well as the thread count: http://www.indochino.com/customizations/new

Most of those are thread counts of 150, which is very high quality. And if you click the last link I posted, you can see some of the thread counts go even higher, up to 200.

So as long as they are not lying about all the evidence on their site, their fabrics are top-notch.

And since they are made in the same factories that make suits for high end Italian and American brands, they should be of high quality.

There are a lot of horror stories about this site on Style Forum and Ask Andy...mostly regarding fit rather than quality, though.

from some site:

Quote :
"The primary considerations are the material and the construction. The thread-count of a suit is only a good indicator of quality to a certain degree. In general, if the thread-count is higher than 100, you're OK. Anything more than that and you're no longer talking about quality but preference. For example, Porsche and a Ferrari both make a fine automobile--the fact that one might have ten layers of paint and the other only 5 doesn't change the fact that you're getting a quality car. Suits with crazy-sick numbers should be avoided (average "good" numbers are around 120... crazy-sick numbers are like 180), not because it's an indication of a bad suit--it's just that they tend to be less robust and will wear out quicker."

and many other sites from google backed up the same.

a typical super 150s italian branded suits costs $1,500-$2,000. yeah, i bet those are poor quality

you also do know that the higher the thread count, the finer the material, and the less durable? anything higher than 120 or 130 shouldn't be worn to work daily (unless you want to throw it out in a year).

i am sure mr y0willy0 wears that 190% 450% french suit made with fine tibetan yak cashmere woven by the gentlest tiniest swiss grandmothers.

180 is hardly "crazy sick."

id say 180 is a good suit though.

at my last job i wouldnt wear less than 200 because it becomes really apparent when youre in a room full of nice suits and the longer youre in it the more you can appreciate the comfort.

its not exactly like you play flag football in a suit, mow the yard in it, or roll in the dirt for fun. an expensive suit is going to last a long time if you arent retarded and also have a professional clean it.

but go ahead and act like a stupid dick oepii, youre famous for it here. and while youre at it check out the "superhero collection" on this amazingly fantastic / professional site youre slobbing all over.

i didnt know you had to be so well dressed to sell vacuum cleaners.

I haven't run into that with the suit I had made in Vietnam. But then again I could physically see and pick out the fabrics and I always get it dry cleaned. I'd be a bit more wary or something that you couldn't look at the fabric before buying and know what you're getting.

just go to brooks brothers, get one of their nicer suits as long as you can buy off the rack, which should be fine for 99% of people. Get well fitting shirts, and a couple of nice ties to match.

Ohh yea, buy some decent shoes, not clown shoes, not fancy shoes that state that your hip, not shoes that have crazy as points, mot a pair of vintage longwings. Some plain cap toe oxfords with leather soles.

y0willy0, this is not the place for dick slinging. Yes, you are rich, and own suits which cost $2-3K a piece. But that's not what the thread is about. As for durability of high S-number suits:

http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/sectionfront/life/menswear-whats-inside-your-suit-459189/
Quote :
"Suit makers acknowledge that fabrics with high S-numbers are delicate and lightweight. But some say that a suit made of high-quality Super 150s or above could be worn to the office once a week and would last four or five years, if it's rarely dry cleaned. That's roughly half as long as a good-quality Super 120s suit under the same conditions. Several salespeople at stores from Saks Fifth Avenue to Barneys New York advised us not to buy suits with high S-numbers for anything but special occasions."

Which means if you wear a high S-number suit to work 5 days/week, it would last just a year. Hey, it is your money, do what you want.

Point is Super 150s is definitely high quality, according to every reference I have seen. Sure, Super 180s is even higher, that doesn't mean that Super 150s is not.

It is like someone saying that a Mercedes is luxurious, and you jutting in wearing your $3K suit exclaiming that a Bentley is high quality and anything below is not.

P.S. Learn some manners.
