The great thing is that UNC said removing the 3 Chick-fil-a's would cost them $2 million. it would also mean that they would have to break the legal contract they have with Chik-fil-a for the football games where they serve food... meaning they could open themselves up to a lawsuit.

I am not religious. I am a huge fan of 1st amendment rights.

I posted the petition because I disagreed with the premise that having Chick-fil-a on NC State's campus permits discrimination there.

Yes, I posted it to cause controversy and discussion. No, I don't want Chick-fil-a removed from campuses. A couple months ago NYU students voted to keep Chick-fil-a on campus mainly on the basis of free speech... it was anticipated the student body would vote to get rid of them, but it was not the case.

Personally, I like the piece of mind that there are no gay midoclorians in my chicken. I once had a friend contract food-borne gayness and it was an unfortunate situation considering it was from the food at our bachelor party. Needless to say the groom woke up to a huge surprise in the middle of the night.

I spend countless mornings at Chick-fil-A after going to be early to get up at 2-3am and study at DH Hill before tests. Those chicken biscuits hit the spot and gave me the energy to either study a bit more or go on to take the upcoming test. Of course, if any other breakfast spot was there, I might have considered them as well. But they weren't, so this Chick-fil-A is a small part of the memories of hanging out at campus while a student.

^^ Same, don't care but I don't agree with that. It's a free market, people open up stores any place they want, in public space, their beliefs are up to them and their landlord (if they have one) and customers. If you don't want to eat at Cfa, the good news is that there are lots of places that serve up greasy "chicken" sandwiches. If you go there because you are like-minded with the owner that's no big deal either, good for you.

The problem I have with a Cfa being at NCSU is that it's government funded space and as such should avoid businesses that support this or that. You don't have a captive customer base as students and staff have lots of options but I think that these limited spaces should be reserved for issue-neutral companies.

Bottom line is that I'm not going to waste any time on it other than posting here. I'm straight, atheist, and vegetarian so I don't really have anything to gain or lose by this. Just kicking in my 2 cents.
