Yeah I think the OP probably gets it. He's using "full retard" in the sense it was originally used in Tropic Thunder: an actor playing a character that is completely retarded (and not the way most people on the internet use it to imply that someone is just really dumb).

I jokingly suggest he's going full retard because he's playing a character that's an apparent ECU supporter. Yes I know it's for a movie. Zach may not even care about sports for all I know. Could be neat for his wife if she did in fact go to ECU as someone else here suggested. We all do things for our spouses. That said, the wolfpack speech in Hangover should totally be played on the jumbotron before football games.

He also referenced the Jonas brothers coming to "Raleigh-Durham" in Hangover 2. Kind of annoying since no one in NC actually calls it that but I understand it because of the airport and Raleigh (or Durham) doesn't have a ton of name recognition nationally.
