Just get a new card. Maybe the citi forward if you aren't churning and hate rotating categories.

So, I just finally got an Amex Blue Cash card. It came with $100 cash back (after spending $1000 in the first few months) and 0% APR for 15 mos. Nothing fancy. Applied last week and it arrived today. Yesterday though, I get an offer from them for the SAME EXACT card saying $250 cash back. It's a new promotion.

Anyone had any luck in this situation with getting matched to the new rewards if the promotion literally changed before you even got your card?

Yes, they'll occasionally do it. Your chances are good, considering it's AmEx.

Was the 100k offer targeted to you? I'd like to get a Platinum card, but I'm holding off until there's a better bonus and the only one I've seen is 25k.

I'm going to churn some hotel cards soon but not until I'm done with my SW challenge (which I'm set to do) & my points posted before I even made a payment. Awesome

Also, I loved my Citi AA cards. Citi had amazing customer service & were always a pleasure to talk to when I needed to call in. I look forward to opening more Citi cards in the future. I'm also considering the Chase Ink to maximize my URs but my Chase Sapphire is still my #1

Def a good deal for international flights, but since I've just been domestic recently I opted for straight cash instead. I wish all the airline miles programs were as straight forward as Southwests.

With my Visa Platinum Rewards through Pentagon Federal Credit Union, I'm currently getting 5% off gas. The MySheetz card (free) gives 3 cents per gallon (or, 3%).

Thus, I'm currently getting 8% off gas. It's not much, but I haven't found a better option...

^ 3 cents per gallon would only be 3% if the price of gas was $1

Just transferred 30k points to Delta from Amex to pay for a ticket to costa rica during christmas. Really sucks that Delta has offered no real transfer promotions in ages.

Nope. Wife's family building a house on the ocean. Have no clue about Costa Rica. I'm practically being dragged to this place. Never had a desire to really go anywhere south of the border, so we'll see how I like it after the trip.

It's actually my first approval. I opened a bunch of other citi cards before I knew about the AA deal and then I was focused on Southwest and Delta for a while so just now getting around to churning these.

I heard you can reapply after 18 months past your previous approval though.

^I recently tried again after 18 months and was rejected on both applications due to my previous cards so I'll wait until 24 months and try again. I'll be looking to get a business card between now and then though.

^The best deal I can currently find for the Citi Visa and Amex cards is 50k miles after $2.5k in 4 months and 40k miles after $1k in 4 months on the Citi MC.

So I want to get a credit card to try and build up some flying miles (i'd love to fly to Spain by next summer). I am going to take a grad class in January and since I will be paying $2,000 for the class, so I figured i'd look into getting a flying card that I can put that on and make the first minimum purchase thing to get the bonus some cards have (sorry for my n00b terms).

What do you recommend? I am a full-time employed independent contractor, so does that mean that maybe I can get a business card? I will probably use the card mainly for gas (i commute about 35 min to work, so I go through a decent amount of gas), and other smaller purchases. Bigger things such as rent have to be paid by check.

For International travel, the Citi American Airline cards are probably your best bet.

http://millionmilesecrets.com/2011/10/11/citi-aadvantage-50000/

I actually just signed up for two of them (at the same time) for myself a few weeks ago.

Although you can probably get 5% back with a gas card, you'll be able to get a higher ROI going through credit card bonuses. As far as business cards go, I've signed up for several of them along with a slew of personal cards. Citi AA also has a business card you can try applying for several months after you've been approved for your personal ones.

BANK OF AMERICA HAWAIIAN AIRLINES CREDIT CARD
BANK OF HAWAII HAWAIIAN AIRLINES CREDIT CARD

Phone Rep: "You certainly have a lot of recent inquiries on your report"
I was approved for both about five minutes later.
I hate fee cards, but the bonus is pretty good esp with 35% Hilton xfer promotion running through the end of the year.

Just FYI some school cashier's office won't take credit card payments for large purchases like tuition, costs the school too much in the fees. Usually only allow check or money order.

Just checked NCSU and they spell out why they wont take VISA but do in fact take most other name brand backed cards (you are charged the extra 2% fee they incur).

So I signed up for the Citi Amex card today (Amex since NCSU doesnt take Visa, i'll put next semester's tuition on it). I was accpeted. I hope I get the full 50,000 points. I guess I'll have to wait and ask when I call in to activate it.

Lets say I call in and ask if I got the 50,000 points promotion, and they tell me I have one of the newer, less point promotions. What do I do? Not activate the card? Make them change it?

Unless they literally send you a different type of card you should get the 50,000 pts. You can always confirm when activating just to be sure and ask them to up the bonus if the referral link didn't work. FWIW I just received my two free Admiral's Club Passes today so I'm not too worried.
