It seems a bit disconcerting, because the last three times a new major version of Windows came out, the built-in version of IE came out earlier: IE6 came out shortly before XP, IE7 came out a few months before Vista, and IE8 came out about half a year before Win7.
Maybe it's just a consequence of the accelerated time-scale for IE releases, like if IE had been updated at the same rate as IE7-8, we would have seen IE9 coming out early this year and then IE9 would have been built into Windows 8, but instead IE9 came out faster than typical, and IE10 came out faster still, and I guess they didn't want to do a launch of any major non-Win8-related product at the same time as Windows 8. (Then again, the .NET Framework 4.5 also just came out, along with Visual Studio 2012, so...) 8/20/2012 5:29:20 PM |
