Do you have one? If you have a significant other, do they know about your work spouse?

Quote :
"
A work spouse is a co-worker of the opposite sex with whom you have a close platonic relationship. In many ways, these relationships can mirror a real marriage.

Here are seven clear signs you might have a work spouse:

1. You depend on a particular co-worker for office supplies, snacks and aspirin.

2. There are inside jokes that you and a specific co-worker share.

3. You can be bluntly honest with this person about his or her appearance, hygiene or hair (and vice versa). You're comfortable enough to point out that the other's hair is sticking up -- or that someone's fly is down.

4. When something eventful happens at work, this co-worker is the first person you seek out for a de-briefing.

5. At breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks, your closest co-worker knows what to order for you and how you like your coffee (and vice versa).

6. You and your co-worker can finish each other's sentences.

7. Someone in your office knows almost as much about your personal life as your best friend or real-life spouse does.

"

I've always had a work spouse. And my last work spouse (from my old job) actually set me up with my current work spouse. Random.

It's like clockwork. Every couple of months someone brings this subject up and we talk about it for a few pages then it goes away then someone creates another thread about it and we talk about it again

First I thought "didn't she already make this thread?"

Then I realized ... yes, she did. message_topic.aspx?topic=619174

I had a work spouse at my job I just left...but he was one of the road reps.

I now have a work spouse at my new job...as of right now...it might change...but we're too the point of going out to bars and since he lives closer to the bars than I do I crash in his guest bedroom every now and then.

Yeah...I make friends easily...

It was in his guest bedroom...not his bedroom! He just moved to town last Sunday night and Monday morning I met him at the new staff orientation.

Mine is my boss. It should be said, though, that we work more like partners than superior and inferior.

^damn you move in quick

I got that work spouse on lock.

Although I've heard that a lot of work related relationships that take it to the next level, although the people tend to have real spouses..

Is it true that the head chef is the one with the dirty knees?

What part of "the opposite sex" do you people not understand? If they're the same sex it's just a bestie.

No gay marriage in NC remember?

i have never been this close to someone at work...and have no desire to

the closest i've ever come is brewing beer with a guy i used to work with...and that was outside of work, obviously...i suppose we did share inside jokes at the expense of our boss, but the rest of that stuff didn't happen

Other than this one...I've had plenty...but that is working in restaurants. But the above quote usually doesn't relate because I tell my SO pretty much everything.

Most of the people I work with are old dudes with kids my age. The closest I have is a friend that alerts me any time there is free food in the break room. I do the same for him.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever really had a situation like this. I try to keep my work life and my personal life as separate as possible.

My work spouse sits next to me and lives a block away from me. We constantly bump into each other in public, even when we haven't made plans to hang out outside of work (and we hang out a couple of times a week outside of work for happy hours and parties).

But luckily, he's the opposite of my type, romantically, and I'm the opposite of his type. He likes hipster-ish ddk and khcadwal types and I prefer athletic guys. So it's more of a brother-sister relationship than anything.

My work spouse and I were a lot closer a few years back, basically inseperable; a lot of folks thought we were dating. It changed mostly because of her negativity about everything and her inability to leave her house other than for work and groceries. It makes me sad and I wish I could do something more for her, but she's essentially an agoraphobe stuck in the same cycle with a guy that makes her miserable. No amount of listening to her or advising her has helped, so now we're just work friends.

i had a work spouse that I was with all the time. We at lunch together three or four times a week, just the two of us and spoke on communicator all the time. Some days we even worked at each others desks even though our own wasn't that far away.

That all lasted until one night when we actually hung outside of work and got drunk. It was a friday night and I had some cologne on to get the feeling right. We started making out and she took off my pants and then I turned on the TV and thats about the time she walked away from me.

not even a full year later... the same exact thread. same....

pitiful. Is that more or less severe than making the same thread in two different sections?

Was the first thread not successful enough for you I<3? Do you suffer from amnesia? Or is this a topic that you make because your SO has a work spouse that they love more than you?

You'll live. The old thread slipped my mind and the topic came up at work.
