I was looking to shuare some good flag football tips amongst players in here. How many of you are players?

We are aligned with the NFL season and I'm a WR/DB.

Defense- As defensive qb, I prefer man to man defense which is rare in the league. You have to have no injuries and not be severely outmatched speed wise. i always take the fastest guy on the other team and if he outmatches me i just play cushion on him. i think what makes our defense great is i tell everyone to watch the qb for the first three seconds before really keying their guy so its like a zone on quick plays where i can just stay in front of my man and everyone else can gang in for the tackle. if not, he makes his first cut and i have room to build up speed and stay with him for three seconds, by then the rush is on and the only way we get beat is if the qb scrambles and buys times. we all get tired as fuck but its worth it because we shut everything down this way.

to me zone only works if the qb isn't good. we tried playing zone against a good qb and he just zips the ball to the short guy everytime and picks up first downs marching right down the field. if the qb throws a slow ball then you have time to get there but zone always leaves people kinda open. we also have miscommunication on deep routes that drag the field.

most people dont realize that you stay back behind your guy with him about 60-75% of the distance from the qb to you because you have time to get there while the ball is traveling through the air that way and can never get beat deep.

as far as tackling goes, letting the guy go buy and lunging for his flag from behind seems the be the surest way to tackle.

Offense i try to get the ball in space and use my "stick moves" which usually includes a spin. The spin makes guys complain that they didn't get me because they just didn't want to grab my dick but i don't care if they grab my dick I'm just trying to make them miss. honestly, i suck at running routes and suck at judging deep balls in the air. i will hang around short and sneak into gaps. i hate when my qb goes three and out trying to deep ball everything.

Not if the qb is anything other than terrible. That's a great recipe for getting beat deep on every single play.

My sophomore year we ran a really simple no huddle with 7 routes per receiver and then our QB would just say the number 1-7 for each receiver at the line. To tell what direction we were going in with the numbers (left to right or right to left) we just said a random keyword before the numbers. If it started with a vowel it was going left to right, consonant it was right to left, unless the keyword was repeated in which case it was the opposite. So it would something like "Omaha Omaha, 1-4-4-2-7"

Made it all the way to the finals before being demolished by the men's bball team's flag football team. Shit wasn't fair, but I got an INT at least.

maybe i wrote it switched around but i think you have it switched around because if anything, its a recipe to get beat short but that is why we have the whole team see the ball the first few seconds so a quick tackle can be made.

ex-ball is at the offense 20

you line up at the 30 and keep a 5 yard cushion where you get 5 yards to see what direction the guy is going and take off in that direction. this means if he is faster than you and takes off full speed committed to a direction, you can at least stay with him until the rush gets to the qb.

this also means if the qb throws it right after the snap. you can recover 5 yards while the ball is in the air and make the tackle for minimal gain knowing that your teamates are going to be right there as well to contain his speed..

The only part of flag football I enjoyed was knocking the everloving piss out of the douchebag out there using spin moves to keep someone from grabbing his flag. After he's lying on the ground curled up in the fetal position, you can then easily remove the flag and dare them to do that shit again.

I played flag football all of three times on the intramural fields at NC State, and every time there was some assclown out there that would turn the flag inline with him and do that spin move bullshit. The only thing more annoying was the quarterbacks who would whine about you stripping the ball and forcing fumbles instead of reaching down low for their flags and giving them the opportunity to throw the ball at the last second.

The groups that played tackle football out there were so much nicer.
