I've been to OKC, but I have nothing to add to this thread.
There is a downtown...that exists. The grass medians between the streets and sidewalks are unusually large...

I have a write up of Oklahoma City on my blog at http://mikeallover.travellerspoint.com/91/ when me and two friends met up there.
The bombing memorial was interesting, but there is a night life scene in their warehouse district. Depending on when you go, you could catch a baseball or basketball game. You could also head out to one of the universities and check them out. Cattelman's restaurant was good. 8/26/2012 4:54:22 PM |

Turn around and go back to Dallas?
Or continue on and go up to Wichita. But Wichita is just another passing through city like OKC so you just need to keep going to Kansas City. But if you're up in KC, might as well head east a bit and check out St. Louis 8/26/2012 5:47:20 PM |

That's so you have more time to get out of the way of a drunk driver
There isn't really a whole lot that goes on in the city. If you're going now, there may be some AAA baseball games, but I'm not sure of their schedule at the moment. They do host the AAA National Championship game as well. Otherwise, Thunder basketball games are great when NBA starts. There may be minor league hockey, but I can't remember if they got a new team or not. Bricktown is the best best for bar hopping. There is a place called Tapwerks that's similar to Flying Saucer and a multitude of other places to grab drinks in that area. The OKC memorial is a good place to spend a couple of hours. If you're into kayaking, you can along the Oklahoma River which is right next to downtown. There is also a zoo and a multitude of casinos you can go to gamble. I lived in Norman the whole time I was there, so I can recommend several places there to go to as well. When are you going?
