I put ear plugs in to shoot on sat and shot a new gun, it was louder than expected but it's also a larger caliber than i had been shooting. Then i realized that one of my ear plugs wasn't all the way in my ear. My ear has been full and ringing for 2 days since... should i go see a doctor? What can they even do for it??? 8/27/2012 7:42:14 AM |

You most likely damaged your ear drum. May take awhile. 8/27/2012 7:51:54 AM |

As someone who has gone to a doctor for tinnitus, nothing. If the eardrum somehow got perforated they can give you some antibiotic ear drops to help with healing. Unless you have blood come out of your ear or something I'd just wait it out.8/27/2012 8:43:36 AM |

Yeah awhile back I manage to perforate an eardrum while water skiing Doctor had me do some hearing tests, said, "Yep it's broke," gave me the ear drops, and sent me on my merry way. Took about a week for the ringing to go away. If I hadn't of found blood on my pillow the morning after the water skiing I probably wouldn't have even bothered going to the doctor. 8/27/2012 9:11:28 AM |

Yep. Between working contruction and in shops, playing in loudass metal bands, SCUBA learning curve and shooting lots of guns over the years, my hearing is shot. I almost wish my ears WOULD ring again, just to make them feel alive...
But yeah, unless your target practice triggered adult-onset schizophrenia it's probably a development like tinnitus or a labyrinthine fistula, in either case sit tight and it should go away
it's like the common cold...if it doesn't go away on its own, just go sit in a draft until it develops into something they know how to fix 8/29/2012 12:16:41 AM |

My ear drum ruptured this summer due to an ear infection. To confirm that the hole is still there, my doctor has me try to pop my ears. You can actually feel the air rush out of the hole if you try to do this. If it is ruptured, it is good to know because you want to avoid getting water in that ear until it closes or you risk infection. 8/29/2012 3:16:23 AM |
