Settings -> Sounds. Disable the sounds. Then go and enable silent/gaming mode. No more pop-up stuff.

I've been use MSE lately, even though I prefer AVG, because I couldn't get AVG to shut the hell up.

Also part of the reason I switched to Chrome from FF, though I would have done so eventually due to the speed difference.

MSE isn't that great.

At least, it's not as great as AVG (which is a resource hog).

On two identical work computers, one with MSE, one with AVG, the MSE machine got a couple trojans over the course of a year that the AVG machine did not.

One was that annoying piece of shit that masquerades as an anti-virus itself.

first of all I'm starting to use Immunet as a supplement to my current AV (I still use MSE because I'm HxC about security in other ways and it's the best at avoiding false positives and not slowing down my machine)

also not only is it very possible to view porn without getting infected, it's very possible to get infected without viewing porn, like by going to a site that runs ads from an ad-network that got hacked, or searching for some breaking news event on Google Image Search and clicking random seemingly relevant search results
