Unfortunately for compatibility Apple made the iOS camera app create 32-bit files, resulting in a maximum file size of 3.96 GB; most of my recordings can't exceed 45 minutes.

Does anybody know of an iOS application (non-jailbreak) that will allow for the quality of the video to be modified so that a longer recording can be made?

Currently my only option appears to be using the front facing camera on my iPad 3 / iPhone 4s.

32 bit file? I think you mean the iPhone uses a FAT file system which has the limit.

Can you take multiple videos and just edit them together with cuts?

Nope, must be one continuous video, no stops allowed, about 90 minutes in length with a lot of movement. (It is for a certification)

Use a higher compressed video format, thus allowing more time to fill that 4GB filesize limit...

There's an app for that.

Srsly people, do you even bother to look it up? Go to App store and search for Video Camera. Tons of apps to choose from that extend the recording time by lowering bit rate.

Igor I paid for three apps already that claimed they would use a lower quality, only to have them stop as well. So yes I did search the App Store.

I used the front comers and was able to record that way, frustrating as it was.

Sorry to hear that. Why could you not use a computer with a webcam to record it?

Most consumer file formats break up long recording into a series of small clips to conform with the FAT32 file system, because it was the only one supported across all operating systems.
