Getting ready to go vote myself. Talley will be open to all Wake County residents to early vote today from 11am to 7pm. Campaigns waste resources reaching out to voters, so help the campaigns you support by voting sooner than later, so they spend their resources reaching out to someone other than you.

Post here when you've voted.

Just got back from Talley. No close by free parking for voting is a sham. I just parked in a RE spot and took my chances with parking enforcement... I won.

Last time I parked in the Coliseum Deck pay deck section on the bottom but stayed less than half an hour there was no charge to leave, and it's right beside Talley basically. I don't think they advertise that free option though. So unless that's changed, that could be a free and close option, or worst case scenario you're out $2.

Or, use the Coliseum Deck after 5pm. After 5pm it, and a lot of other on campus spots are open and free. Talley is open until 7pm today.

I thought the first 15 minutes were free, which likely won't be long enough to go vote and make it back in time. $2 isn't bad though, I've just given enough money to NCSU Transportation over the years . And yeh, after 5 PM, 95% of campus parking is open/free, even right beside talley.

You should feel smug about voting at all. My ancestors had to grab a rifle when they wanted a change in government.

I'm not voting this year. I'm not an official resident of California yet and I don't care enough about the local politics of Boston to vote absentee there. It isn't like my presidential vote is going to change either of those states anyway.

I was going to vote during lunch but the damn line at 11am was over an hour long. Screw that. I'm guessing if I go next Tuesday they'll be hardly anyone there.

I went through and used my friend's Facebook birthday to look up their voter registration information.

It's quite surprising. Many people just don't give enough of a damn to vote in more than 1 or 2 elections.

I voted!

And it looks like a lot of people want in on this action:
http://www.wral.com/throngs-swamp-early-voting-sites-in-nc/11673771/

Quote :
"RALEIGH, N.C. — Early voting in North Carolina got off to a fast start Thursday, as people lined up outside one-stop voting locations statewide and waited for up to an hour to cast ballots.

Lines snaked out the Chavis Park Community Center in southeast Raleigh even before early voting began at 11 a.m., and traffic was backed up onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard as people coming to the community center waited for parking spots to open up.

"I don't want to be in the back of the line on the last day," voter Vivian Lee said.

"I wanted to make sure to get my vote in so it counts," voter Marian Best said."

Chavis sounds packed. Now that it's after 5pm it'll be even easier to vote on campus by parking anywhere near Talley, which is open for voting until 7pm. Go vote now.

I also have looked up my friends' voting records.

I know Optimist was busy today. My dad is working at that polling site, and a friend of my mom was voter 514 around 2/3.

A lot of people lined up to vote as polls opened, a lot of political parties and civics groups had events as the polls opened. If you go now, you'd be fine. Or tomorrow too.

Not during a presidential year.

I ended up going back to the Cary early voting at 5pm. Was able to walk right up and vote. Apparently the trick in Cary is to go when the retired people and stay at home moms have already stood in line.

Getting close to 5 o'clock.

Talley is open for voting until 7pm.

Look at your sample ballot: https://www.ncsbe.gov/VoterLookup.aspx?Feature=voterinfo

Start getting ready to go vote soon! Parking on campus after 5pm is easy.

I understand why people vote early.

I understand why people encourage others to vote.

But why the hell do people want ME to vote early?

Fuck you, I'll vote on ELECTION DAY.

Saturday October 20 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Talley is open for a lot longer today than tomorrow. And I imagine it's easier to park on the weekend than weekdays.

^^ Not if you go around 4pm. From what my mom has told me (she's working early voting), the lines sucks ass when they first open but then are pretty much clear around the time people start heading home. Which is kind of weird because you'd expect it to be the other way around.

At least Talley has parking spaces you can access, even if it means risking a ticket. Duke also has an early voting site but parking is a gigantic clusterfuck on their campus.
