I wouldn't go here if you're trying to remain spoiler-free. This is a very in-depth analysis of the trailer. Several things in here that I didn't pick up on until now.

nit-pick: I thought Tony Stark was a savant/genius. Why does he need JARVIS to tell him how many people he sees?

Beyond that, I'm super pumped about this.

I would immediately think that Jarvis would discern a stray limb if someone was directly behind another in the line of sight.

But that would be filling in a reason where there may not need to be one

Some of them could be behind a cloud or mistaken for debris from the plane.

just because he was a savant/genius doesn't mean he has super eyesight.

yeah Jarvis can do instant recognition of people and things and then track them in real time so tony can focus on other things. like the scene in iron man 2 where Jarvis plots a path through that globe thing and provides on screen waypoints for tony to follow. sure he could probably maybe do it on his own, but its one less thing to worry about in the middle of a fight. its basically the entire point of a hud.

not to mention the fact that a plane just came apart and he had to get his iron man suit up... probably didn't bother to do a head count before hand, or notice how many went flying out the plane, and instead of taking the time to count 'em all up, it's easier to ask Jarvis, who most likely has a heartbeat scanner for instant info like that.

also, designing and developing an AI/hud that can do all that stuff would require a super genius to begin with.

Real answer: it's cooler than having Robert Downey Jr. have an inner dialog of "13 people, can't save em all".

ehh, not really, because he follows it up with the question of how many people the suit is capable of carrying. Chances are slim that Tony planned for this exact scenario, and knew that he could only catch 4. However, Jarvis would be able to do that calculation immediately. So his asking the question of how many were in the air was a buildup to the ultimate question, how many could he grab at once.

Given the rate they were falling, and the circumstances, it's much easier to fall back on Jarvis within the context of the story. It flows logically with Jarvis' omniscience of all things math, science, and physics.

can you explain the last 10 seconds? I watched it, but don't know enough about the comics to know what that is.

According to Wiki:

Quote :
"Sometime after the Extremis transformation, during an attack by the new Super-Adaptoid, Tony Stark realized he could command several armors at once. Building on this, and realizing the world was becoming an increasingly dangerous place, he decided to construct a "team" of Iron Men—hyper-advanced drones that would be under his direct mental command, just as his own armored body. Unfortunately, the "Argonauts" were abused and destroyed before they ever could serve for good. They included:
"Space Ghost": space-flight capable, could reach low Earth orbit under its own power; nearly impossible to detect espionage model; possibly intended as a satellite-killer.
"Submariner": streamlined for great speed underwater; capable of using the ocean itself as a weapon, it apparently unleashed several tsunamis, and was able to overpower Namor, the Submariner, under water - an incredible feat.
"Adamantium Man": equipped with practically indestructible "Stark-Chobham" armor, an experimental composite of carbon nanotube-reinforced ceramics, laced with adamantium.
"Digger": enormous drone, possibly over a hundred tons; equipped with (shielded) Antarctic Vibranium (which dissolves any metal) helmet dome and a specialized repulsor/unibeam system which allowed it to tunnel at incredible speed.
"Hulkbuster II": also a massive drone, ostensibly designed mainly for raw power and toughness, to take on the Hulk. It proved entirely capable of taking on the Avengers. Like its predecessor, Hulkbuster II bore a distinct resemblance to Juggernaut.
While extremely powerful, the drones were useless once Tony Stark rendered himself clinically dead."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Man's_armor#Argonauts

I'm not sure if that's what it's an allusion to, but based on him summoning the armors while outside of them....

Also, the list of armors is crazy. I knew Stark was a genius and an innovator, but I had no idea the armor had gone through so many iterations/augmentations.
