Luckily none of us live in Wake County or Durham counties, or drink or swim there, or are raising kids there, etc.

I don't understand why we would want to sell our natural gas when it's at its cheapest prices. Hold onto that shit until there's a shortage so we can at least make $texas on it. 10/25/2012 11:42:29 AM

We could wait until it's safer and more profitable, the lobbyists that the GOP General Assembly listens to doesn't want that though, they want it ASAP. 10/25/2012 12:05:34 PM

Before people point out that fracking can be done safely (it can), I would like to preemptively point them to the what has been happening to NCDENR's budget. True, we are creating a new special organization for this, but what do you think will happen to their budget? 10/25/2012 12:12:16 PM

The Haw River I'm afraid, will once again become one of the more polluted rivers around. 10/26/2012 9:18:03 AM

You mean the Cape Fear River, right? The Haw River is upstream of the Triassic Basins. 10/26/2012 9:52:41 AM

If you look at the area of the reserves, the Haw runs right through it. If you've never seen the Haw, you should definitely check it out. It's very scenic. Unfortunately, it used to be one of the most polluted rivers in the country. Its fine now, but maybe not for long.
Sure, the silt will eventually makes its way out to other, larger rivers, but the fracking will probably have a direct impact on the Haw. 10/26/2012 9:57:01 AM

If you have google earth, download the .kmz file for the NC geologic map here: http://tin.er.usgs.gov/geology/state/state.php?state=NC. If you go where the Haw comes in north of the Jordan Lake dam, and turn on the geologic overlay, you'll see that the Triassic basin areas are southwest, south, and east of the Haw river, meaning that the Haw doesn't flow through where gas could be extracted. The river leaving the dam is the Cape Fear.
