That's a couple hundred thousand more than this time in '08. Real Clear Politics put us back in the swing state category. And this NC based polling company says it's tied:

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/10/obama-and-romney-tied-in-north-carolina.html

Your peers are voting in record numbers. And your vote could make a difference more than usual. No matter who you're consider voting for, make sure to vote. Let's break the record for highest turnout ever in North Carolina's history.

you realize your vote literally does nothing right?

like there is no direct connection at all between your vote and the next president.

^^^ well the delegates in the electorial college do not officially have to vote the way that the state did. If one wanted to change his mind and vote the other way, they can.

Typically, if a state is won by a party then a delegate is sent from that party so it rarely (if ever?) happens

I wish people would stop saying this. It's an endorsement of our 2-party system, much like China's 1-party system. Every vote you cast for a major candidate is counted as an endorsement of genocide through mechanized warfare, automated surveillance of the telecommunications of the entire nation, fiscal policies that transfer your tax dollars to the inner circle of banks that "commune" with the Federal Reserve, and so many other issues the candidates ALL agree on.

If you weren't decided to go vote - that means the system hasn't offered you a real choice. Go turn in a blank ballot, and be sure to tell everyone you see there that you don't recognize the legitimacy of the election and you cast a protest vote.

I, too, have always thought that was a spectacularly retarded thing to say. It should be educate yourself, and then vote, or don't. But voting just to vote because you have been brainwashed and badgered into thinking that it's something you have to do at all costs is pretty much so the opposite of being a responsible citizen.

Why do you democrats have such a hard on for early voting. Is it so each of you have as much time as possible to cast several votes apiece?

And that has happened a whopping 11 times in the history of our presidential elections. One of those being when an elector mistakenly voted for Edwards instead of Kerry. (Or so I read.)

Does Obama for America have me on analytics as being a democrat? Or do they really plastering the whole fucking internet with their ads?

I mean everything from TWW, to Pandora, to Facebook, to all news websites, hell I have not looked at any porn sites for the last few days but I bet they are up there too.

My vote will only make a difference if the total number of votes looks like this:

n vs. n+1

Given that that scenario is extremely unlikely, I see no point in voting.

They're really plastering the internet with their ads. Reaches their demographic and you can have a lot more marketing outreach for less money online than with TV and radio.

Yes and a lot of people who have jobs fuck off online (at work) all day instead of watching TV like the unemployed crowd. The people with jobs are more likely to vote BO.

i like going first thing in the morning, getting there a little while before they open and waiting. If early voting was open early I would have done that, but an 8:00AM or 10:AM opening time for early voting doesn't work for me.

Your vote counts, but no it doesn't matter. Even if it was a 1 vote margin, it would be decided by the courts after a round of recounts.

That being said, I still voted because I feel it's my civic duty.
