if so, what is the appeal?

(genuinely curious, not being snarky. I haven't been since 3rd grade, so I can't really remember if there is cool/interesting stuff there for adults, beyond treasure island and splash mountain)

LOL.

Yes, I love going to Disney World. I don't have children yet (first son due any day now though). I'm not going to be one of those parents that take their newborn baby to Disney World. I'm going to wait until they are old enough to remember the trip later on in life. I was born in California and lived really close to Disneyland so my parents took me and my brother there all the time.

I went to Disney World for the first time in 1995 and then I didn't go again until the Fall of 2006. Since that trip in 2006, I've been two or three more times. The last time was on Christmas Eve in 2010. I spent 18 hours in Disney World that day.

It's really not that much different from going to other theme parks. I guess if you're not really into roller coasters but like the other sorts of rides Disney World is fun without kids. I'm more of a Busch Gardens girl myself.

We go with my GF's family for a week every year. Some years her 5 year old niece is with us, some years she isn't. When she is with us, we go to Disney. When she isn't, we go to the more adult parks (Universal, Sea World, Epcot). Plus Orlando has a pretty decent bar scene.

went with my wife about 6 years ago before we had a kid. She's from south africa and had never been. there's plenty of stuff to do for adults- roller coasters, other non-kiddie rides, restaurants, bars, etc. so that was pretty much what we stuck to.

But, had it not been a situation where she had never been, I think we'd have done something else. Neither of us really want to go back, but with a 5 year old, it's going to happen sooner or later.

I've been a few times as an adult with no kids. It is fun to go on rides and hang out at a resort for a week.

My neighbor down the street is CRAZY obssessed with WDW. He goes every year for Gay Days (yes, he's ~) and stays for like 8 days. He usually makes a second trip in September or December too. He does the Cirque du Soleil show just about every single time and a number of other special excursions (like scuba diving). He's a Disney Vacation Club member and has one friend (also ~) who's about as obssessed as he is that usually goes with him. He used to IM me and be like "OMG they're changing this [tiny detail] this year!!!!" until I finally told him enough already.

I asked him once why he loved it so much and I think he said that basically he loves Disney and knows that he's getting a quality vacation when he visits WDW. Also he saw most of the world (or parts he was interested in) in his 20s using his mother's frequent flyer miles. I don't see the appeal myself, but to each his own.

I do!

But I have to go for research. And I get free admission for myself and up to 3 Guests. Usually, I go alone. But occasionally I'll bring some friends to drink around the world at Epcot.

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is awesome. Runs through 11/12. I'll be there this Friday and Saturday!

^ It's beautiful. The design is stunning and you really feel like you're in the middle of the movie.

That said, the ride is really intense. I love roller coasters but can't do super fast motion graphics. Not a fan of the ride, but the overall land experience is cool.

We honeymooned at Disney in Florida. It was fantastic. I don't know why you'd want to take your kids.

We spent two days eating and drinking at Epcot.

I had never been to WDW until I was a senior in college. I enjoyed the roller coasters by day then drinking and eating in Epcot before the fireworks and heading to bars for the night. When we lived in Florida for 3 years, it was an easy drive down for a weekend trip to Sea World, Busch Gardens, WDW, Universal, etc. All of the kitchy stuff was a bit annoying, but the rides are good.

Agreed, the Harry Potter world is amazing but the main ride is more of a simulator, which I'm not a fan of.

My wife and I went last summer and the summer before. We loved hanging out at the hotel/resort and going to the theme parks...We wanted to go together before we have kids.

We won't go again until our kid is old enough to enjoy it.

Just got back from WDW and I have no kids. Epcot is the best for adults. Magic Kingdom is fun just from a nostalgia standpoint, and Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are nice for what they have, but more could be added to both to get them on par with MK and Epcot.

You can eat some really fantastic food all over the resort, not just Epcot (though mostly Epcot [Food and Wine festival was awesome!]).

The reason I liked Disney so much is because they go balls out on everything they do. Unlike a Carowinds or Six Flags who will generally cut the budget and half ass it. Yes they may not have the biggest, baddest rides, but that's not their market. They do what works for them and do it well.

Some people have loved Disney and grown up around it all their life.

Think it's weird all you want, but we stayed at the Grand Floridian and were put up in the club level FO FREE because it was our honeymoon. No kids on our floor, and hardly any in the separate building we were in it seemed. We also got called to the front of the line a lot because it was just two of us. There wasn't ever really a time I felt like we were annoyed by kids. There's plenty of stuff to do there without kids, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Ultimately, they definitely notice you're there as a couple with no kids and make it worth while. We went to some bomb.com restaurants, had a really nice place to stay, and enjoyed ourselves. Plus, we figured there's only a limited amount of time we have to go to somewhere like Disney with just the two of us without kids flipping the F out that we didn't take them. However, when we finally do have kids, we can totally go to a nice tropical place alone and more easily say get over it
