Why do you guys like ESB so much? I want to know if the reasons are the same.

Sure, but RO is basically an extended intro scene to ANH, not as much of a standalone film as ESB and ROTJ. RO is great, but it's great because it doesn't take many risks; it just gives us more ANH. And if the last scene wasn't in the movie, I think people wouldn't hold it in nearly the same regard as they do.

^^Hoth. It's also the movie that reminds me the most, in terms of tone, to the EU books I read as a kid.

Yeah the Hoth battle is great and Boba Fett is pretty cool. The Tonton warmer scene. I really like some of the dialogue.

"I know."
"Then I'll see you in hell."
"I thought they smelled bad on the outside."

Lots of reasons. Battle of Hoth and the subsequent asteroid chase. A lot of logical character development of all main characters. Further depth into the dark side vs. light side and the ways of the Force. Introduction of memorable characters like Yoda and Lando. No retreading of the Death Star. Probably one of the biggest plot twists in cinematic history. Legendary saber duel that outdid Vader vs. Obi Wan in ANH, but it wasn't over the top. There were even lots of subtle things like the color of Luke's clothing and foreshadowing and stuff.

The Vader/Obiwan duel wasn’t that epic. It was basically 2 old guys standing around waving their laser swords at each other until one turned off his laser sword to let the other kill him.

ESB also had an amazing score. It introduced that epic Vader/Empire theme.

^^That fight wasn't about the action, it was about Luke losing his mentor and the closest connection he had left to his own father (because his uncle was already dead as well, he keeps losing EVERYONE), and to add insult to injury it was at the hands of the same guy who killed Luke's father in the first place.

The lack of fight choreography means little compared to how important it was to the story.

To Rian Johnson, the story means little compared to literally everything else. And that's why TLJ is terrible.

My previous post had absolutely nothing to do with plot. I know what that scene was about.

^^^But come on, when that movie was made, Lucas had no idea what he was getting into. He had no idea what a light saber duel was supposed to look like. At the time, as a standalone movie, that duel was fine.

It wasn't until everybody got hungry for more that it started to look hokey. There was no deeper meaning that should be derived from how they fought. It was just a director's inexperience and just not knowing what he was looking for at the time.

Then he overcompensated in Revenge of the Sith.

LOL, good lord. You lose all credibility ranking any of those garbage prequels ahead of Last Jedi.

^Everything after the animated series in my rankings are all garbage I will likely never watch again, so how they are ranked after that point is pretty insignificant.
