I won't be able to make it to any black friday action this year, but last year I was able to find a better deal on a monitor online than I did by physically going to office max. Woke up at 3am, click click click, back to bed.

Only thing I'm really interested in trying to find this year is a new laptop. I don't need anything fancy. Just something that can run Photoshop and Sim City

Perusing the ads today since I have nothing better to do at work lol. Is it just me or does it seem like there aren't any particularly killer deals out there this year? Maybe it's just because I'm not in the market for a TV or vacuum.

Denon AVR 1613 at Best Buy for 275 instead of 400. Though the manufacturer is having a BF sale for 260 and free shipping so I'm not sure I'm even going to go to Best Buy on Friday. I need speaker wire too so I guess I'll use that as my excuse.

Target has a pre-BF deal for a Countour Roam HD camera for $120, normally $200.
I want it, and the wife says that we have no need since I don't use the last camcorder that I bought

FWIW...I bought this LG blu-ray player from Newegg for $59.99 a couple weeks ago with free shipping:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882005115

It's a cheapy, but seems to work fine for my needs. Connected to my wifi easily and I'm using it for Netflix as well. I plan to use it for Hulu+ soon as well.

Any ideas where the best deals are on any of the following?

-Macbook Air 13" (looks like Best Buy's price rivals the Apple Refurbished price) and maybe a big external monitor

-Musical instruments/recording gear (want to buy an American Standard Telecaster, and some sort of electric bass...maybe a MIM P-bass?) Also need a good condenser mic and probably a Shure SM-57, and an interface (I'm thinking Apogee Duet 2). For a screaming deal, I would also grab a set of Roland V-drums.

-Guns: looking for a centerfire sporter rifle, (6-7mm range)...a Saiga 12, and I would pick up an AR-15 if I found a deal I couldn't refuse.

well, missed that "doorbuster". Fail for dell on having a functioning site that could handle the traffic.

Almost all the Target loss-leaders are still in stock (decent amounts) along with the sales and promotions that did not start until 4 am. I think that opening on thursday evening with your loss leaders - which the ads were very sure to emphasize were in limited quanties that would sell quickly - while having other heavily advertised promotions (like getting a $10 target giftcard on purchases over $50 as well as several items simply not avalible at all before 4 am) may have cost them overall sales.

Went out for a little bit this morning and Crossroads wasn't nearly as crowded as last year. Scenes they were showing of Crabtree and Southpoint on the news today looked surprisingly quiet as well. I'll be interested to hear the sale numbers for this weekend when they release them.

I find it rather pathetic that people are so materialistic, they'll fight over buying something at a good deal. Shit like this makes me lose hope in humanity. I can't imagine how much worse it would be if it were necessity items (ie: food, water, meds, etc) during a depression/fallout/crisis/etc...

That said, just bout Forza Horizon from Microsoft's Store for $16.00 shipped.

Target was advertising $10 for 1600 Microsoft point cards, but most claimed it was a mistake and they would't honor it. Went to walmart, which price matches, cleared them out of the 64 they had (green and white ones) and debating about grabbing the other 50+ they have of the older style cards. I'm in a tiny town in west va, but worth a shot in the triangle (pretty sure a Durham store got cleared out). The ad said it's good through tonight at 11pm

He spent 640 bucks on microsoft points which are selling on ebay for $13.78 and at walmart for $19.85.
If he were business savvy, he could make potentially make $241 minimum.

On the flipside, if he knows he will play 102,000 minutes, he just saved himself $241.

I assume he is buying them for resale but it's none of my business and it's irrelevant what he does with them and it has no bearing on my life.

No, I spent $640 on a product I can make at least $300 on reselling with virtually no effort (and now I'm in it for $1140, fiancee picked up 50 more).

^beat me to it
