I did it by hand.

You can order state cookie cutters but they usually run $2 each, meaning $100+ just for cookie cutters.

^^If you tried cutting it you would end up with a lot of crumbling. You could do one big USA cookie and draw the state lines I suppose.

But really this is the best way to make sure they come out right, because if you mess up cutting the dough you just roll it out and try again.

Hawaii, Delaware, and Rhode Island have pieces too small to put in the oven without them burning.

As for Alaska, my election party will be over and the results will all be finalized before they make anything official (even though we all know it will be red), but I decided not to bother since I was short on dough.

I was afraid they would get misshaped during baking and not recognize them but they turned out fine. I also needed to make sure I knew the difference between Wyoming and Colorado.
