First buck today - 6 pt

Lots of hunting pressure around, so we went waking through an isolated thick brush area and I saw him on the ground in the thickets looking at me 15 yards away. Took a head shot on him before he could get up.

I didnt get to go back home to goldsboro to hunt yesterday, too much stuff to do here in Raleigh. Looking forward to Thursday-Saturday of next week to hunt. I'm sure there will be tons of pressure so the deer will most likely be laying low.

On a side note, any Raleigh area duck hunters? I really want to get into duck hunting, but need someone to show me the ropes.

Deer haven't been moving at all around my place since I shot that 7 pointer a couple of weeks ago. I haven't heard of any rank bucks killed around my place either. I feel pretty confident that the rut is over, and things are trying to settle down. The does aren't even really moving. The last 4-5 times I've been have been quiet. I'll give it a go over thanksgiving, but I'm not expecting to see any horns.

rip it down and leave a note on/near the tree that if they want it back they can call you to set up a face to face time when they want to explain why they put it there and get it back.

They'll never show and you get a stand for free.

be nice about it. if you didn't have up posted signs or purple paint on the trees, then he wasn't really doing anything wrong.

most folks don't realize that you have no more liability to folks hunting on your land than you have for folks trespassing on your land. you only assume more liability when you start charging them for access. NC Landowner Protection Act. same act that made purple paint equivalent to posted signs.

I'm not trying to argue, but how is that true? He's on someone elses land. Whether it's posted or not, it's still not his land to be using.

page 43 of your NC Regulations Digest. access to private lands (requirements for permission) are regulated by the counties. some counties require that you obtain written permission and such. i don't think Wake does (i assumed he was in Wake). the last few pages of the regulations digest list county-specific regulations and tell which counties require permission on private land.

some say that while it may not be illegal, it is unethical to hunt private land without permission. fool would certainly be within his rights to do the paperwork to have the guy trespassed. it would be easier to just paint the trees purple so folks know to stay off.

^it would be easiest to rip it down and leave a note.

painting means $$

1.) take it down
2.) leave a note
3.) profit

owning land means $$

i didn't say he shouldn't take it down and leave a note. i just suggested he be neighborly about it.

Purple Paint has been working well to keep deer hunters off of our land; it's cheap and effective.

Just got a 100~ area hunting lease for next season which i'm pretty excited about. Its about 60% farmland, 40% wooded. The southern end borders a swamp, which we're hoping to dam up so that we can create a nice place to duck hunt.

The only thing is there is a jobless redneck whose land borders the western corner of the land who has been hunting illegally the land illegally. The landowner has stated that no one should be hunting or accessing this land, and will help us get the guy off. We're just a bit worried about him trying to sabotage anything we start putting up back there. Anyone ever deal with anything like this before?

Pumped for this weekend. I've got a new place to hunt near Sharon Harris Lake. The game camera has been pretty active, so i'm hoping it produces. The weather this weekend should also help.

Went out Saturday morning and afternoon. In the morning saw 2 does, one we walked up on, and one that came out about 8. My hunting buddy shot a coyote. Said he saw 2 chasing off a doe, and then this fella came out about 30 min later.

Saturday afternoon 10 min after shooting time ended as I was getting out of my blind I had a group of deer walk up on my corn pile. Couldnt make out much, other than there were atleast 3. Hopefully the come back around.
