My mom, who works at an elementary school, was telling me about how all activities where there is a loser are now being removed, that all kids need to "win.". This made me think about how all the fails in life have made me a better person.

Share them here.

-losing the run for classes president in 5th grade. Lesson learned: people will vote for other people if they promise free pizza every day even if there is no hope of pizza. A person can be brilliant, but people are stupid.

-leaving college. lesson learned: drop the idea that "I don't need a diploma, I'm smart and can get a job". The fact is, you do, I had to get over myself and go back and finish.

-being the only person in my flight class to fail this one test. (10 sections in the test, miss 3 questions in one section, you fail even though your overall score is a 97.... I did precisely that) lesson learned: I am not hot shit and should slow down and focus.

-my dad making me work at 14 in the summer, then 2 jobs at 16 in the summers. Lesson learned: it sucks to work while all your friends are out having fun, but I appreciate hard work and money a lot more. Many of my childhood friends who didn't work all summer and just got money handed to them are the ones who are stuck with living with their parents now

Instead of recognizing that always winning is wrong, the American people sit on their ass and do nothing or obey.

Lack of discipline will kill you in the future.

Came into NC State in electrical/computer engineering and computer science. Had no discipline because I had never been challenged in life after breezing through all of school. Switched to dumbass finance. Absolutely HATE my job now and spend all of my spare time reading about physics, math, engineering and science news/research.

Am now working to rectify this situation.

Bought a land rover, was fucking vilified in the TWW garage, it fell apart, cost thousands in maintenance, and ultimately sold for $500 when gas was $4 per gallon. It was by far the stupidest purchase I ever made, I now own a Tahoe and Accord both cars are best in class at holding their value.
