i just quickly scrolled through duncan's site, and the feeling i get from the design/art/style etc has me interested. is it going to be part MMO - part FPS - part RPG ??

That's what it sounds like, so far. Not exactly an MMO with dedicated servers, but an online co-op FPS with persistent MMO-like elements and the ability to randomly stumble on other players.

They've been working on this game since 2009, possibly since 2007. It's going to be something different, that's for sure.

I'd be surprised if it was. The game isn't really due out until September, the media blitz probably won't start for another couple months at least.

That being said, the developers dropped a lot of new info about the game over the past week or so. Also...apparently there's a shitton of money being spent on this game:

I played the Alpha and I had one extra Alpha code. First to PM me gets it. Its a PS4 code.

Its OK, it not polished at all and no drops from the enemies, but it has great potential to be just as good as Borderlands.

I want to get into the xbox beta but I also want to buy the game digitally, and that doesn't seem to be possible (need to pre-order to get into beta). If MS wants people to go digital they have to figure out how to give digital players the same access to stuff.

i liked what i played. there are some definite lacking points in the game right now though.

they made it easy to join in with others games, but then you can't talk to people in the world without joining the same party.

pvp is rough, no matchmaking by skill or how many people are grouped together. so they still have some work to do there.

but they do have another month, and maybe they have the matchmaking in place and just want people to find fast games right now.

the iron crucible is ok (where people get to use their gear with appropriate stats) but as the cap is lvl 8 the people that found purple gear are obviously far and away better, to the point of an auto rifle one shots people in less than blue gear. (purple > blue > green > white for non-mmo players)

from what i've seen titans are far stronger in pvp than hunters, but haven't had much input from warlocks

I played for a few mins but won't be able to get on in earnest till 10 or so. The bit I did play I was killing AI guys, not other people, which surprised me. I could've played longer, but I wasted 45 minutes customizing my dude.
