I've had Netflix for what seems like forever, but I'm thinking about switching.
Amazon Prime comes with access to their instant watch tv shows/movies and the free two-day shipping ($79/yr) while Netflix is 7.99/mo. It seems like a no-brainer for me to switch but I'm wondering if TWW is pleased with Amazon's selection. 11/28/2012 9:50:36 AM

I use Amazon Instant more for buying shows like Walking Dead and Copper than for the library of movies. I actually don't know that I've watched a free movie on there. 11/28/2012 9:51:57 AM

if you order even with any remote regularity from amazon the prime membership's free 2-day shipping will pay for itself in no time and the Instant is just an added bonus. look at it from that angle. 11/28/2012 9:55:52 AM

True! I'm paying 7.99/mo for Netflix which amounts to almost $100/yr and with Amazon I get two-day shipping off of their products. It seems like a no-brainer but I just wanted to ensure that the selection was similar if not better than Netflix.
Also, it will cause me not to keep buying $25 worth of stuff when I only want two HDMI cables so in the long-run it WILL save me money lol

Amazon has a lot of similar things, especially when it comes to TV series.

and, as Wadhead said, you can buy new episodes of current shows the same week they air on cable if you aren't a cable subscriber. 11/28/2012 10:02:52 AM

amazon prime streaming has a terrible selection and a god-awful interface.
it's worth getting prime though for the free 2 day shipping. 11/28/2012 10:37:12 AM

Ive had both for forever. Honestly I hardly ever watch any of the free shows on Prime. My main shows (The Office, Parks and Rec,) arent free on Amazon. I use Netflix for movies, and my prime mainly for purchases.
My Amazon Prime just ran out, so im waiting until I need to order something to renew it. If you still have a working .edu email address, then sign on for Amazon Prime Student. Its $39/year, renewable for up to 4 years.
Also, Amazon Prime (not the studnet one) shipping is shareable for up to 4 people! Many do not know this. While the Prime Instant Video and Kindle lenders library cant be shared, you can share the free 2-day shipping with up to 4 people. Here is the Amazon link on it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200444180 11/28/2012 10:49:06 AM

Both netflix and amazon have much to be desired in terms of selection.
having both, amazon has more quantity for free streaming, but netflix has more content with wider appeal.
since we had amazon prime well before the streaming was part of it, as someone else said, it's just an added bonus. $8 bucks a month is nothing. 11/28/2012 10:53:50 AM

I have both. (mainly because of my amazon prime membership)
selection is a bit better on netflix, but im still not crazy about either of them. I wouldve thought that there would be more movies/tv shows available for streaming by now 11/28/2012 11:18:53 AM

They both kinda suck if you want to watch anything that wasn't on basic cable in the last 10 years, or if you're some kind of cinemaphile

so honestly, the real solution is to pay for amazon prime and get your parents' netflix password.
also, i find the playstation interface for amazon to be significantly better than netflix. the netflix ui is garbage.

This annoys the shit out of me. They need to get it together, I mean really.
I use Amazon Instant and HBO Go (a friend's subscription) and I'm pretty happy with it. I got Amazon Prime for $39/year without even knowing about Instant, so it's worked out well for me. 11/28/2012 9:17:49 PM
