Of course, perhaps the game should be changed so the pre-picked letters are in ascending order of frequency (LRSNT E) or so that the actually most common consonants are pre-picked (RHSNT E); more lolz would be had if instead the least common letters of each type were pre-picked (ZQXJK Y).

I disagree. I think the decision to keep going or solve depends on a few things - which round you're on, how much you've accrued in that round and how it compares to the other contestants, and how likely it is that someone else will solve it (is it obvious or something more obscure?).

Lemme think... there are 24 wedges with 3 sections each, so 72 possible places to land. There's a Lose A Turn wedge (3) and two Bankrupt wedges (6), so 1/8 chance of landing on those. But the wheel changes in each round, right? Oh whatever... it's too early for math. Good luck! Have fun!

well usually the wheelmobile comes around and its totally blind luck if you're called up on stage for a prelim audition, but for this one my wife got an email saying they were looking for contestants from the greensboro viewing area, so we each sent in videos of ourselves and got selected for a real-deal audition in raleigh. we were with probably 75 other people, and they project a puzzle at the front of the room. you're called randomly to stand and ask for consonants, buy vowels, etc, until you either solve it, ask for an incorrect letter, or they get bored and go to someone else because they have a lot of people to see. we each solved our puzzles individually (and got a sweet "spin this" shirt)

you take a written test, which is basically 20 hangman puzzles of different wheel categories, and you get 5 minutes, and that thing is hard as shit. after that, they score the puzzles and make a cut down to about 25 people. from there, you go up to the front of the room in groups, and since we told them we were there together, they put us as a couple and we solved that puzzle as well.

they tell you if you make the show, they'll send a letter in the mail within 2 weeks. if you don't, you're SOL. this was back in july, and, well, we never got a letter. one of the producers randomly called last week and invited us out to LA to tape in 2 weeks, so of course we said yes
